update: i did squeeze in some project hours on thursday, then had the exam and project presentation friday, and today, i did a grand total of nothing :) very fun
project was accepted as sufficient! yay. 32/40 i think. i’ll take it.
with the spring heat i’m falling into iced coffees instead of my usual espressos, very unusual for me.

trying not to drown. trying to study for my cultural studies exam that is next week. trying to stay on top of my work. resubmitted my application for politics as my second teaching subject, now we wait. still have to write an essay, do stuff for my writing class, and a bunch of tasks for my didactics class. got hooked on the pitt. hoping for my brain to get kinder again.

Lots of moving around today so I don't get bored while trying to crunch some work while slightly overtired. It's sort of working.
No productivity today. Just a regular work day.
I won't lie, I'm starting to flounder a bit. I was manic for a while, and I’m still stuck under the thumb of the consequences of that. I wish I could just flip a switch and be better. The meds help until they don't.
Being back to where I was in undergrad (feeling like I can't do anything and lacking the motivation to even try) doesn't feel good.
visited the second mandatory tutorial session for my literature class, then sought shelter in the psych library as it has an ac, before returning to my beloved humanities library. read 30 pages for tomorrows seminar & wrote the first draft of a short story - still have to type it into an actual document.

the end of an era
On May 23 I finished my undergraduate degree, somehow managing to double major in History and French with minors in Linguistics and International Relations. I’m so glad I got to go to the college I chose (and particularly grateful for scholarships!), because I got to meet and live with some very lovely people. The college I went to gave me access to the best academic experiences of my life: a summer internship working for my prof on an archaeological site in Türkiye & a 6 month semester in Paris, France.
I had plenty of hard times— I can’t say that I am a good student, but college has made me confident to say that I can be a good scholar. In September, I will be starting a masters program in Iron Age Archaeology, which I am genuinely thrilled about (and I hardly ever use that word). I expect that next year will be even harder academically than anything I’ve done so far, but I’m so excited to try.
This summer I won’t be doing much— I’m tutoring a couple hours a week, but other than that I’m just helping my mum clean up the house to sell. I will try to keep posting (mostly book stuff, research, and chores) and maybe try to get back into art.
Happy Pride Month! 🌈
This year’s LGBTQIA+ Pride Month roundup from JSTOR Daily brings together stories on queer history, literature, activism, archives, community care, and the people who built spaces where LGBTQ+ communities could thrive.
You’ll also find links to free scholarly research throughout, making it easy to keep exploring.
