With the lacking time and motivation, the Admin Team has decided to retire Paradox as of now. But we will return. Head Admin X will be revamping the directory in the coming weeks, hopefully making this place a better home for you all. Please wait for us to return! We'd like to leave our ask box open, for any of those who'd like to send us your opinions and suggestions on what you'd like to see. We will be dropping in on occasion, because we take into account your feedback and try our best to consider everyone's ideas. See you soon! - Admin X
We're sorry to announce that Paradox will be going on a hiatus. In all honesty, Admin X has grown disheartened and lacks the time and motivation to continue running the directory as of right now. But do not fret, we will return. There are many things we plan to update and rewrite-- a lot of planning that needs to be done in order to make Paradox a better place for you all.
We -- Admin X (I), especially -- deeply apologize for not keeping this directory as active and exciting as you all had hoped. We’re working on it, and hope that in the future you all return when when we re-open. Thank you, each and every one of you, for joining us in the first place. I’m sure we seemed to be daunting and perhaps too much work, but despite that you still thought of sending in your applications. Once again, thank you. For giving us hope that we could try out such an idea with you all.

When it comes to strangers, acquaintances, or “friends”, Jiae acts as a very kind, sweet, and innocent woman. She acts as if she was a perfect and sweet angel sent from Heaven to grace the Earth. And with the fact that she carries Nana, her duck plush, around ever since the day she got her, she seems to also seem “childish”. At times, she would pretend that Nana was a real duck who only Jiae could understand. Many people call her a bit “cuckoo” because of her talking to a stuffed animal, but she ignores their comments and continues to talk to Nana as if she was real. The reason why Nana and she are so close is because Nana was the duck who was there through it all with Jiae.
Jiae seemed to cherish many memories of her childhood besides Nana. Like the fairy tales of princes, princesses, dragons, and witches. Whenever people talked about the positives of their love lives, Jiae would daydream about it and say that this said person has found their “true love”. During this, she also liked to dream about fantasy weddings like one in the garden where the animals planned it all. That or any other wedding that sounds a bit too impossible. But could you blame such a big dreamer like her? Though while everyone she knows is a good guy, she always sees herself as the bad and evil witch who wasn’t really that bad (because of her occupation). If it weren’t for the flower shop, she would’ve probably been totally evil.
Though for her young face and small height, she quickly gets irritated if someone calls her a “little girl”. Especially if it’s someone younger than her. She also doesn’t seem to like it if people call her by her real name, Yeoreum, besides Jiae. Along with that, she has a strong hated for mangoes because they leave a weird taste in her mouth and because, in her opinion, look disgusting. And if anyone picks on Nana, she will not hesitate to fight.
When it comes to being a hitman, Jiae does like to get things done quickly and straight to the point. Before, with the classmate being an exception, she used to be horrified every time she killed someone. But it occurred to her that she didn’t even know them in the first place and that they would have to die eventually, so she was doing some stranger a favor. She has never done long and painful torture, however. Though she has thought of doing it several times when someone treats her cruelly more than once, she realizes that she’d probably pity them once they’re dead. That’s why she always likes to get it over with and move on with her life. In all honesty, she didn’t’ really seem to care anymore. But since she hated seeing the sight of people dying, she either looks away when she kills someone, closes her eyes, or cover them.
It has been known that Jiae liked to hold grudges, as she had killed her classmate for all his wrongdoings and because he looked like the man who murdered her original parents. When something more than just “horrible” happens to Jiae, she wants revenge and she is determined to get back at them no matter the risk. She hopes they either learn their lesson or wish they were never born. It’s cause of these thoughts that make Jiae think about slow and painful torture methods. She never got around to doing them, however. One reason was because she would feel bad. Another reason was because she has no time for it. The last reason was because they were only thoughts and being her, she didn’t want them to become true (for now anyways).
↺ LOADING BACKGROUND...
May 21, 2008 until September 2014: Song Yeoreum used to be a gem to the public. The daughter of Song Chanhee, a famous actor and Song Seoyoung, a famous singer, was probably one of the most life changing things in Korean pop media. She was the apple to everyone’s eye and everyone to have ever seen the young cutie with her parents in public would gush over her cuteness and how she held her stuffed duck, Nana. Yeoreum was loved and appreciated by everyone. They all called her the baby princess, as that’s who she was even to her loving mother and father.
There were nights where Seoyoung would complain about the young daughter having so much attention to her husband. The actor would only say it’s because she’s the daughter of two celebrities and many people loved the both of them, so of course they would love her. But the attention was the vocalist’s main worry. She was worried that their little princess would get hurt one day and she wouldn’t ever let that happen. Chanhee only kissed the other’s lips and said that she was probably thinking too much and that it’d all be fine and that this family will not get hurt by anyone.
But even he began to worry soon.
September 1, 2014, 8 PM: She was busy pacing in her room in front of her bed. Her father seemed to have caught her when he came to check if his little gem was sleeping or not. He had asked her why she couldn’t sleep, as he was a bit worried for the girl.
“I’m afraid of having that nightmare again,” the six year old told her father.
“Oh?” Chanhee had asked her. “What’s this nightmare that has been troubling you, my dear?”
“You and mommy are going to get hurt,” she answered, making him hesitate.
“What?” he asked his daughter again.
“You and mama are going to get hurt,” she said once again. “And you two will leave me. And I’ll be alone.”
The young man sighed and shook his head at the young child. “Oh Yeoreum,” he said. “You will never be alone. I promise you that you will be with your mother and me for as long as you live. We will see you graduate elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. We will see you make many friends, friends who will leave you and friends who won’t. We will see you cry and we will be there to comfort you. We will see you live your life the way you want. And we will be there always to help guide you to happiness.”
The young girl looked up at her father’s brown eyes. “You promise?” she inquired before holding out her pinkie finger to her father.
The father nodded and smiled warmly at his daughter before crossing his pinky finger with the girl’s. “Promise,” he responded before uncrossing it and standing back up. “Go to bed, Yeoreummie. You have a big day ahead of you.”
The young girl grinned and nodded her head. “Okay, papa,” she responded to him. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” he replied to her before leaving her room and flicking the light switch, leaving only her nightlight on as she fell asleep.
September 1, 2014, 3-5 AM: In the middle of the night, she heard a loud scream from her mother. Curious to see what the reason was, she got out of bed and walked over to her parents’ room only to see both her parents lying on the floor with lifeless eyes and the blood from their heads spreading on the white carpet floor. Her body froze at the sight as she looked up to see a big man with a bloody metal bat look back at her with a sinister grin.
After seeing the man, she ran with Nana in her arms as the male was chasing after her. As he tripped over something and lost sight of her, she quickly ran downstairs to her basement and hid in a room full of magazines and newspapers. She found a spot on the floor that wasn’t fully surrounded by dead bugs or dust and sat, hugging her duck tightly. She couldn’t fall asleep. She was too afraid to do so.
An hour of silence later, the door opened, making the six year old hold her breath and hug her little friend even tighter. To her luck and surprise, it was a police officer that had a warm and kind grin on. At first, she was afraid of coming out of the room. But with the officer’s kind and heartwarming words, Yeoreum was able to get out.
As she and the officer walked out of the basement, Yeoreum asked the woman a question. “What happened to my mom and my dad?”
The older woman stopped in her steps, making the child stop behind her. “They’re…they’re…”
“Miss, what happened to my mama and papa?”
“They’re taking a rest,” the woman responded.
“They’re sleeping after everything that happened?”
Yeoreum was given a nod in response.
“Will they wake up?”
The woman shook her head as she looked back at the other. “I’m sorry sweetie,” she responded. “Your parents won’t be waking up. So… that’s why we’re here. We’re going to take you somewhere with parents who are awake and will be able to take care of you.”
“But Nana can take care of me,” she said before looking down at her duck.
“Oh yes! I know!” she replied with a nod. “But… you see, Nana is too small and can’t take care of a big girl like you.”
“Oh…”
“Trust me! We will make sure you are in good hands.”
“Is the scary man gone?”
“Yes, the scary man is gone.”
“Please make sure of it.”
The police officer only nodded and patted the child’s head. “We will,” she says. “We will make sure of it.”
After that day, Yeoreum never got to see her mansion ever again. She was sent to an adoption center and was adopted by a single woman named Yoo Joohee. After that, she went with the name “Yoo Yeoreum” instead of her original name “Song Yeoreum”. And after the news of her mother and father’s deaths had been announced, she was no longer “important” anymore.
She was just another person who has been forgotten. And with her new last name, no one even knew she once a celebrity after that.
June 20, 2025: Yeoreum is now seventeen years old and a high school student. She wasn’t well known, but she wasn’t really someone unknown either. Since she had started high school, she had always been picked on by one male student. Though, he liked to pick on other students as well. But Yeoreum made it very sure that she disliked the boy and he continued to pick on her for everything she did and everything she had.
But that wasn’t the reason why she got him dead on his own carpet floor. The reason why she killed him was because he had a very similar face to the man from eleven years ago.
Yeoreum obviously took her weapon with her home and left the body in the room for the mother to come home and screech her lungs out. She thought no one would’ve known of her crime and that she would’ve gotten away with it. Though, she was proved wrong when she admitted to a friend about the murder in the bathroom while a police officer was in the stall.
This day was the day she got arrested, got bailed out, and realizes that taking another’s life was actually kind of fun.
November 3, 2028: Yeoreum had moved to Seoul to start a new journey. But it was because of what she did three years ago that had kept her from getting jobs back where she used to live. So that’s why she moved to Seoul and decided to get a job as a florist under the name Yoo Jiae. She was sure she could forget about most of her past as “Yeoreum” and instead start a new and peaceful journey as “Jiae”.
One night after her shift was over, while Jiae was on her way home with Nana in her purse, she ran into a young man.
“May I help you?” she asked the gentleman.
“Oh no,” he said as he shook his head. “You see, I don’t need any help. But I do know of people who do.”
A smile was given to him. “Very nice to know, but I must be getting on my way home now,” she responds before walking on her way, shoving the other to the side.
“You’re Yoo Yeoreum, right?” the man asked, making Jiae stop in her steps at the mention of her name. “I have my information from a good friend of mine.”
“Good to know that you have heard of me, but I go by Jiae,” she responds to him.
“You murdered that one boy by whacking him on the head with a bat multiple times, right?”
There was no response in return.
“It seems like I’m correct,” he chuckled under his breath. “Listen. I know people who need people like you. We need people who can murder without any feeling of remorse and people who can get it done quickly. We need you, Yoo Yeoreum..”
The female scoffed and turned around to face him. “I’m sorry, mister. But that was only once and I plan not to do it again,” she responds to him. “I’m not Yoo ‘Yeoreum’ anymore. I’m Yoo Jiae and if you think you can just walk up to me and offer me to join your little ‘gang’ and make me say yes, then you are mistaken.”
“But don’t you miss the feeling?” he inquired her. “I know you have only experienced it once, but that feeling of success after murdering the boy must have been a good experience. You know, the feeling of relief that it’s over and the suspense you get before actually doing it. Don’t you love how the redness of the blood is being shown on your weapon? Because I used to be like you and trust me, I loved it. I would go on, but I really don’t have all night.”
No response, yet again.
“So what do you say?” he asked her. “You either get to join us and get that same exhilaration of killing a useless human or we tell everyone who you are. And see everyone treat you as a monster? You lose your job as that one florist with the ducky and you won’t get one again. And once they hear your name, people will be afraid of you. People will never want to go near you again. You choose. Do you want two jobs or none?”
She hesitated. “Two.”
“That’s what I thought,” he said with a nod. “I’ll meet you in front of your tacky flower shop tomorrow at eight PM. I’ll take you to where we meet, you take our test, and you become one of us, deal?”
Jiae nodded in response.
“Good,” the man grinned widely. “See you tomorrow, Yoo Jiae.”
He turned away and walked off as she walked back home, prepared for the next night.
Present day: Two years have passed and Jiae is still in the same gang with the man from two years ago. It was a shock how the police still didn’t manage to find her, since a cop caught her the first time she killed someone. Have there been more crimes in the city? Were the police just lazy or dumb? She wasn’t sure and she had no time to find out.
Jiae is twenty-two now. She’s still working in a flower shop in the morning. But when night comes, she’s ready to kill. She had to admit, the first couple of times murdering people while she was in the gang was a bit hard. She couldn’t help but feel guilt and disgust after murdering someone. In fact, she had thoughts on quitting. But knowing the consequences, she decided to stay. As time passed, she then got used to it and began to feel the excitement on taking another person’s life quickly with just the swing of a bat.
No one refers to her as “Yeoreum” anymore and she made sure of it. It has been a long time since someone had called her that. She was no longer the sweet and innocent daughter of two celebrities. In fact, at this point, she wasn’t anyone’s. She was on her own.
Even if she had a sweet and innocent appearance with a plush duck by her side, she’s a killer who feels no sorrow for lost souls. Instead, she feels a rather a sick and cruel kind of joy.

Hello! This is Admin X with a small general announcement!
We’ve received a handful of messages asking if we have semi-hiatuses and if they may go on said semi-hiatus. This topic has come up multiple times and all the admins have agreed that we do not see the need for them. As I’m sure this applies to almost everyone here, we know school has just started for most of you all, and of course is seen as a higher priority than roleplaying. We completely understand this fact, seeing as the admins ourselves are in your situation. Replies are slow, but we would like for you all to try and get at least 3-5 replies/starters/ask memes within the 2 week span between each Activity Check. This does not include pictures, gif sets, OOC posts... anything that isn’t building your character.
We would like to believe this is an acceptable amount, considering everyone is still getting accustomed to your schedule changes. If you have any questions or suggestions, thoughts or opinions on this matter, please don’t be afraid to message us! But please know that if you feel like we’re asking too much, you’re always allowed to drop your character(s). We all have our own priorities and we respect that. @U@b
Small (/coughs) side note, we will be holding our very Event very soon! Please expect another announcement within the upcoming week. Happy Roleplaying!

Introducing [ CHOI HANSOL ], citizen ID # [ 0218199801 ]. He is [ 17 ] years old, is a [ CITIZEN ] and is currently a [ SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ].
↺ LOADING PERSONALITY...
Hansol wasn’t a very outgoing person. He didn’t talk much, unless he actually needed too. You couldn’t blame him, he spent most of his time homeschooled, and therefore he didn’t socialize much. As he entered high school, Hansol slowly opened up more, and is now less awkward whenever he interacted with others. But his hands did more than his mouth did, always telling stories as he played the notes on his piano. Hansol loves playing his music, both alone and for others.
Aside from his love for piano and classical music, he also like listening to r&b music, occasionally making his own song lyrics (although his lyrics aren’t very good.) He hopes to improve, so he can make his own songs using both lyrics and music notes.
Hansol is a bit shy, so when he speaks to others his voice isn’t very loud when he speaks. But even though he isn’t a good speaker, he is great at listening to other people and loves to help other people even in the smallest way possible.
↺ LOADING BACKGROUND...
Hansol was considered a miracle child. He was the fourth child that was conceived by his parents, but only he was the only child that was able to survive without any problems or illnesses. Hansol’s parents cared for him lovingly, constantly reminding him that he was a blessed child and told him he would go very far in the future.
When Hansol began school, he started to think what his parents said was a complete lie. Once the child was able to attend school, he would always get looks from other students in the building, as well as people in the streets. At first he didn’t know why, but he finally realized it after attending school the year after.
It was because he was considered different. It was because he didn’t look as Korean as the other students at school. Yes he was half Korean, but he was born and raised in Seoul, therefore he felt as Korean as everyone else. The other students in his school saw differently, so he was made fun of for looking different. Hansol hated it. He wanted to stand up against the people who bullied him, but it was always big groups of students against him. One person against a big group. He would always come back from school crying, so from then on he was homeschooled.
Hansol didn’t have any close friends, so the only friend he had during his home school days were music. He loved playing the piano, and he started composing his own music as he slowly got better at the instrument. Hansol would spend many hours on the piano, playing piece after piece and losing himself in the music.
Once Hansol was in high school, his parents decided to place him into a music school. Hansol rejected the offer at first, but his parents forced him to audition for the school. He auditioned, and got in. Hansol didn’t make many friends, but the friends he had were good enough for him. Up until his senior year of high school, Hansol became very close with the small group of friends he had and they constantly hung out with each other.
Little did he know that one of these “hang outs” were fatal. When he and his friends went out to go bowl, Hansol decided to drag his friend Jae with him to buy pizza for lunch. As the duo were entering the small pizza place across from where they were bowling, Jae tapped Hansol on the shoulder and pointed at a person who was looking at the two. That person looked like Jae.
A doppelganger.
Hansol couldn’t believe what he saw. He looked at Jae, then the stranger, and back at Jae, and the two were exactly alike. Weirded out by the whole situation, the two left the pizza place, forgetting about the pizza they needed to buy for the rest of their friends.
The next day, Hansol received a call. It was a call that was telling him that his friend Jae was dead. Jae was murdered. Hansol couldn’t believe it. None of his friends could believe it. At that moment was when he and his friends decided to separate, and drifted apart because they didn’t want to be reminded of Jae every time they were together.
Once again, it was only Hansol and his beloved piano.
