Toby: Lily Of The Valley

Toby loves nature. I believe he would be one to go out in the woods with his small sketchbook and doodle his findings. Flowers, trees, animals. He isn’t super knowledgeable about the stuff he draws but sometimes they do strike curiosity in him. One day deciding to search up about these flowers, only to find out that they resonate with him quite a bit.

These flowers are beautiful, cute even. You wouldn’t expect them to be harmful or hurt you in any way, but turns out, they’re poisonous. They’re extremely dangerous to consume and could end up killing you if the conditions are right. Wonderful to touch and look at, but if eaten? It’s an ER trip within a few hours.

At first glance you wouldn’t assume Toby to be a massive threat. You might brush him off at first, ignore his threats and go about your day. But when he shows you what he can really do? You regret ever underestimating him, and you make sure to never cross him like that again.

Tim: Deep Red Roses

Tim is a lover of classics. Like black coffee and Marlboro Reds. He’s not much of a flower guy. But for some reason, he always finds dark red roses beautiful to look at. Sometimes while he’s on a nightly stroll, cigarette in hand, he’ll come across a bush of them and quite literally stop to smell the roses for just a brief moment. He’ll admire their dark beauty, seeing himself behind them.

Dark red roses are associated with unconscious beauty. Tim might be rough around the edges, tough and rugged. But lying behind it all is something that makes him alluring, a covert and hidden kind of inner beauty that gets burried by the years of layers that have hardened him. Despite it all, its what makes him so beautiful.

Some fail to see it, only choosing to recognize his ruggedness, his roughness and uncouth demeanor as something negative. But if they stop and appreciate who he is, as he is, they instead might see the years of fighting for survival, the darkness, the fear and troubles as something to be seen as rather powerful. Something to be proud of.

Brian: Clematis Flower (Leather Flower)

Brian enjoys plantlife. He appreciates it more than Tim does and often goes out of his way to admire it. He’ll be one to help EJ in the gardens, doing the yard work and watering the plants as instructed. He never used to care, but over time, he’s come to enjoy them. They make him feel a bit more human when he takes the time to remember their beauty and significance.

He’s quite fond of the Leather Flower. A flower that symbolizes cleverness, adaptability and perseverance. Brian is highly intelligent and witty as we know, and the leather flower is one he finds himself most drawn to. He never looked up the meaning or really did any research but, he just knows he likes it.

Brian is quick on his feet, swift in his thinking and comes up with practical solutions to problems before even Tim can whip up a plan. It’s one of his biggest strengths, and he knows it. The silent giant with a big brain and fast moving mind, always finding the perfect timing to drop in a sarcastic joke and have it land every single time. A perfect representation of the leather flower

Ben: Gerbera Daisies

Ben likes flowers, but he never goes outside to be able to see them. The only time he comes into contact with nature is when you bring him one as a gift, and he responds enthusiastically every time:

“Dude, this flower is so SICK!!” And he’ll set it on his desk where he can see it at all times.

Gerbera Daisies represent cheerfulness and childlike joy. While Ben is a sarcastic asshole almost constantly, he’s always radiating this oddly likeable and funny energy that makes him nearly impossible to fully hate. He’s smiley, he’s snarky, and so grossly charismatic it almost makes me sick LOL.

There’s rarely a time where he isn’t cracking a joke, being silly or loud. He’s allergic to quietness and calmness. It’s in his code to be the center of attention, bringing the light in a room where it’s much needed and providing the comedic relief in a sea of serious and brooding men. It makes him irresistible wether platonic or romantic.

Jeff: Spider Lilys

Jeff does not give a fuck about flowers. He couldn’t care less. Actually, he would stomp on one just to prove how much he doesn’t care, but secretly? He thinks Spider Lilys are pretty cool. He has a couple jackets with them as designs, in an edgy way of course, he wouldn’t be caught dead wearing them in a way that suggests softness or beauty. But he uses them as accessories on a few of his clothes.

Spider Lilys are a beacon for danger. If you see them, its a warning. It’s petals emit a toxic substance that when consumed, its extremely dangerous. And you know that plant should be avoided just by looking at it. It’s the same with Jeff. There’s nothing about him thats inviting, welcoming or hospitable. When you lay eyes on him, you know you’re fucked.

He’s pure aggression, hostility and full of bite. If you cross him, he wont be gentle. Hell, even if you dont cross him, he wont be gentle. Everything with Jeff is a gamble of if you’re getting his decent side for the day or his worst side. Nothing is stable, nothing is completely safe, he’s a walking warning sign.

EJ: Blue Lotus

EJ is in love with nature the most out of the seven. He will walk in the gardens all day and night if he could. He does extensive research on them too, learns about their meanings, how to care for them, where their native to. Everything there is to know, he knows. And his favorite is the Blue Lotus.

Blue Lotuses have medicinal properties, and he might even use them in his practice in the infirmary. They’re known to calm, to heal, to pain relieve. They also symbolize calmness, a quiet, steady mind. Jack is the only one who’s brain is quiet, whose emotions are under control, and who has a hard grip on themselves.

He is deeply intelligent. All of the creeps are in their own respective areas but Jack is intelligent all around. Academically, emotionally, mentally. All of his decisions are sound, thought out and calculated with precision and deep consideration. Doesnt act on instinct or impulse, he always takes his time, evaluates, observes. The calm in the midst of all the chaos.

LJ: Sweet Pea

LJ also loves flowers. He doesn’t go outside much, if ever. But he loves to see the garden from his window, and when he’s feeling up to it, he’ll go down for a visit late at night when everyones sleeping. The mansion is quiet, the only one out there is him and the pretty flowers he can kneel to and admire. A big softie.

Sweet Peas symbolize bashfulness, sweetness and bliss. LJ is a recluse in the mansion in fear of being disliked. He’s often excluded, forgotten, but none realize that he is quite kind when you get past his scary outside and seemingly off-putting behavior. He uses fear to repell, but when someone breaks through it, they see him for his softness.

LJ is very protective of himself as well. He has an inner child that he shields fiercely, not letting anyone see unless he fully trusts you. His sweetness is overflowing after you break him though. Lovely gestures, fun drawings and doodles, he’s clingy and lovey. One of the only creeps that doesn’t fully belong where he is.

In my view in order for it to be enemies and lovers at least one side must worry for their life due to the others knowing actions, thee also must be pure unbridled hatred. That's what I was expecting and I didn't get that when I read the book so I was disappointed. In my opinion it's rivals to lovers not enemies to lovers. And the storyline isn't bad or anything, I just felt cheated of the story I felt people told me about.
