so – I’ve been sick for a handful of days and Im starting school tomorrow as well as having to pick up some time at work while I’m doing it. I’m an anxious mess and I feel awful and I just want to explode. so for the time being, until further notice – this blog is on HIATUS. emmett liked to hang out in the garage with rose. it was a shared interest of theirs, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t think it was kind of hot when rosealie got so focused on her job. plus, it was nice to just exist around her. in a lot of ways she was his perfect partner. quiet and elegant where he was loud and rough around the edges. fierce and protective where he was soft-hearted and trusting. rosealie pretty much kept him functioning and emmett wasn’t scared to admit that. 

talking while one of them is working on a car isn’t a foreign pass-time for them. they know each other so well by now that they don’t even have to check to see who it is they’re talking to. “if you want a new car all you have to ask is ask, rosie.” emmet answered taking a seat on the counter as he spoke. alice’s visions were never wrong so emmett personally couldn’t wait until edward heard all about how he was going to marry bella one day.

“how are you feeling about that by the way?” he asked doing his best not to just steamroll right into the question as he usually did. rosealie was always slow to accept new people. even with alice and jasper she had taken a while to warm up to them – admittedly though, with alice it had taken less time than with anyone else. but now that it was basically a matter of time until bella became a cullen emmett wasn’t quite sure how his wife would be handling it.

     ❝ it’s just an excuse to see you around all the small sports cars. you look so big, I love it. ❞ the tease comes with an almost flirty tone to her lips, unbidden and perhaps unheard of by anyone else but emmett. she is more comfortable showing her soft, hidden underbelly to a man like him than she is anyone else. regardless on how long she has been here, how much they care for her there are still only parts of her that emmett and emmett alone can attest too. it’s what makes them work so well together, she thinks. for the hidden parts of herself that people can only guess at he defends passionately. he knows that she never means much harm, at least. 

       she can hear him shift to the counter but she never takes her eyes off the underside of the sports car now -- instead her hand freezes for a moment because he’s asking her a more serious question than her teasing joking now and the rage she felt before comes back in sheer force. it makes far too much sense that edward would be the one to put them all in danger like this -- especially over a human that he constantly moans about when the moon is high and rosealie is usually at her wits end.  

       it’s with that thought in mind that she forces herself out from under the car so that she can send him a healthy glare -- not at him, not particularly. no. it’s rather her displeasure over the whole situation. ❝ esme and carlisle are practically beside themselves, alice is intent on being friends with the girl and it’s practically a done deal whether he likes it or not.. ❞ she huffs, frustration seeping into honey smooth voice as she rolls her eyes to the ceiling for a brief moment. ❝ and worst of all, we dont know anything about this girl other than she’s what....a pain in the ass? it’s all he moans about. she’s extraordinary and if she ever finds out then she’s dangerous. I don’t like it. . ❞

      it’s only the sound of her breathing that really fills the car -- though she’s too hyped up to really pay much attention to it now. adrenaline coursing through her veins as she clutches at the fabric of her pants as she demands herself to breathe. she realizes the danger of the situations he had gotten into only after she has been saved by him. the sound of his voice cutting through the laughter of the men who had cornered her had sent a wave of gratefulness that she had never felt before when concerning the moody boy who sat next to her in english and caused her a headache every time he opened his mouth. 

      she’ll worry about how he found her later -- they’d herded her into a relatively quiet and unseen place to normal people. instead she focuses on not panicking because she is safe from danger. she is safe and she is with someone who is familiar to her.  ❝ thank you... ❞ her voice comes out hoarsely, as if she’d never used her voice prior to this moment and she finally peels her eyes away from her dimly lit feet and to his dark side profile, illuminated only by shitty street lights as he zoomed to some place she wasn’t aware of. 

     she only notices he hasn’t been saying anything once her voice finally breaks the silence.  ❝ edward? are you...okay? ❞ her voice has become meeker, quiet but she knows that he can hear her. she knows that he can probably feel her stare melting into the side of his face as she gently reaches out to place her fingertips against his shoulder. even in the darkness, she knows where he is at all times.

     sometimes he thinks that no matter how many animals he drinks from, he’ll never truly be able to be satisfied. carnage is wrought in his past and intertwines his limbs in the form of scars that could only be made from venom. while barely discernible to the human eye, he knows his adoptive family and even his wife can see the intense scarring that lines jaws, arms, torso in frightening marks. he thinks this is why most of his kind give him a wide berth -- someone with so many marks cannot be a normal man. 

     he is happy for it most of the time because he inherently does not trust anyone who is not alice or the cullens -- even the humans instinctively avoid him because of is odd mannerisms. spending so much time as a monster meant that you lost some of your humanity. he can only feel normal when it comes to being with alice and that is why he hurries back after a small hunting trip before he’s forced to interact with the humans again in the guise of a student. 

     except when he returns to the home and to their shared room, he is very confused by the explosion of clothing that he finds on every surface his eyes can see. floor, chair, vanity, bed. all of her designer clothes that she is so in love with have been tossed aside like they are nothing and he looks around in concern. it takes him only a few moments to find her flitting form and he’s instantly by her side, hands resting on her slender shoulders.   ❝ alice? is something wrong? ❞

     there were ways that rosealie and emmett were made for one another -- both were extraordinarily good to look at. broad shoulders and chest fit well next to her petite, slender frame. the way he towers over her, face enhanced by venom that has smoothed him into a perfect being. the soft curls of his hair and the dimples that caused her to bring him into the life of immortaility in the first place, she thinks that he is perfection in every way. 

     the others might be off put by his near constant levels of loudness but rose in fact enjoys it. he is the only person who has ever seen her break her lady like mannerisms, seen the way her face lights up when she gets excited over various things. she feels as though she can truly be herself with him and she knows that she is lucky to have the love of her life by her side through all eternity. though there are still things she longs for, this is not one of them. 

     that’s why she doesn’t even move out from under the car she is working with -- slender, jean encased legs peeking out from the lip of the car as she searches for one of the tools she needs to tighten the bold of her convertible.  ❝ I’ll bet you a new car that edward throws a tantrum over the human girl once he finds out what alice saw. ❞ seeing as in her basically becoming one of the cullen clan in some indeterminate future. something that rose isn’t very sure she wants to deal with -- the girl that he constantly complains about irritates her to no end for reasons that only she and that mind reading bastard know.

carlisle had had a busy day so far. with the weather being so nice that day after a spat of bad rainstorms there were young men out doing whatever work they could before it rained once again. and the many clouds currently in the skies suggested that the rain might return quickly. which meant he was seeing many people who’d hurt themselves in various accidents. and with the other town doctor being away tending to family business carlisle had been getting a fair amount of the other man’s patients as well. so far, though, nothing had been so serious that carlisle wasn’t able to deal with it. the worst he’d seen was a dislocated shoulder which he had easily reset.

he had almost been at loose ends until a knock at his front door had sounded. it was a young woman and her parents, the parents looked rather upset as they explained what had happened. presumably they didn’t think it appropriate for a young woman to be out climbing trees like she had been. they didn’t say as much but carlisle could read between the lines of what they did say.

“i’m sure it’s nothing serious.” he assured them as he gently but firmly lead them away from the examination table towards the seating area which wasn’t too far away. overzealous parents intent on guarding their daughters’ honor were familiar to him but it was much easier to work without two individuals breathing down his neck. once he had her parents relatively out of his way he turned back to his actual patient offering her a kind smile.

“is it just your leg that’s hurting right now?” he asked pulling his chair a bit closer before sitting. his attention was focused almost completely on the young woman now. from the story that they had told carlisle had an inkling that she might’ve broken her leg. not too seriously given that there were no bones poking out where they shouldn’t be but she’d probably have to be in a splint to make sure that her leg healed correctly.

     it had been a sudden whim of the woman to go and climb the large oak that sat right outside of their house -- towering and offering shade in the midst of sweltering summer heat. she had been so utterly bored when she’d chosen to do so but even hiking her skirt had not made the climb much easier. she’d made quite good progress with her skirt hitched and tied to her hip but ill suited shoes had ultimately caused her to slip and fall when she failed to get the proper hold on one of the branches. 

      she doesn’t remember exactly what happened as she fell but the sudden slam of her feet to the ground and the overwhelming pain that knocked her breath straight from her lungs had given her an indication. her parents came rushing out of the house and had not stopped scolding the eighteen year old until they had approached the good doctors place of work. parents telling her to let them do the talking and to not cause them more shame than she already had in being so reckless and unfeminine. 

     so it’s not much of a surprise when a little sense of relief settles over her when he leads them away. her shoulders relaxing just a tad bit as a sigh leaves her lips. it’s a wonder they went away with such little protest considering that the doctor has always been absurdly handsome. this is her first time seeing him in person and the moment he begins talking to her she cannot help the way her heart flutters like hummingbird wings against her chest. gosh, how silly. 

     ❝ ah, w-well. ❞ she takes a breath, trying to steady her nerves so she doesn’t seem more frivolous and childish than she already might to him. he has sure to have seen many women and men in here before with much worse ailments. ❝ the pain is radiating to my hip just a tad, doctor. though it’s not as bad as the pain in my leg. ❞

    it’s not his usual policy to make house visits like this. in the world that he has voluntarily immersed himself in, caring past the monetary was a one way street to trouble. if his employers found it could hurt kaleo personally or put a target on their back as they did not take kindly to more than work relationships….and yet he still risks it. when a client cancelled last minute and he knew the others house wasn’t so far away and he had at least an hour before his next appointment he could spare the time to make a quick visit. at least to make sure they weren’t dead because that certainly was a fear.

    the kind of people who got involved with him were hardly ever good but there was something about them that caused the escort to worry. he wouldn’t let it be too obvious though, not really. he’s even giving himself a pep talk on what to say after knocking against the others door in an obvious show that he’s outside. it’s a quick visit, nothing crazy. he was just in the neighborhood and wanted to see how they were doing. it’s not that he was worried or lonely or anything utterly absurd like that. no, it’s just a simple coincidence.

    people have been questioning eunji’s mindset about these kinds of things for about the three years it had taken her to really build up a reputation – her face wasn’t the one you’d wanted to see sitting opposite of yours. her reputation as a top notch thief was one that she took pride in but it was the fear that flashed in the eyes of those men and women who knew she wasnt just there to steal which fueled her love for what she did. the ultimate fuck you in a capitalist society was to take down both new and old money with a single character damning thing.

    for a girl who had nothing growing up, it was like an adrenaline rush. to have money funneled into her hands which was then allocated to the people who needed it most ( which was her and her siblings, she’d been steadily adding to their college funds ) was the feeling of goodness that she craved. the idea that she was doing someone a favor by fucking over someone – it’s a tentative lie that she tells herself but not everyone can get out of these kinds of things unscathed…she knows that. but if it was her or them, she would always choose herself.

     a case made obvious in the way she offered them a razor sharp smile, hands coming up to gently spread as if showing them that she meant no harm. a lie, as everything else was. eunji could be both greatest enemy and dearest friend depending on how this interaction went.  ❝ I’m not trying to force your hand, don’t be so cynical.
