#namaste @paigeheldyoga @yogajoint Storytime - Part 2 of 2 Come August 28, 2018. Paige was teaching the Bryant Park class again. I saw it less like a cautious undertaking, and more like a boss fight in a video game that I was all prepped and ready for! But something happened before class even began that made my day. Paige stood up, pointed in my direction and said “I’ve taught in Bryant Park four times, and I’m seeing some familiar faces.” It gave me great confidence to know that even someone I have seen only once a year for the last four years remembered me just as a student in her class. Of course, the class proceeded with a style I have come to find to be unique to Paige and perhaps the teachers she has trained, with fluid movements and perfectly cued breathing throughout class. It was practically like music. Once again, pigeon pose came up during class, and this time I felt like I knew I was ready, but I didn't realize how ready! Not only was I able to catch my feet with alternate hands without any pain or straining in my hips whatsoever, but, for the first time now in 12 years of practicing yoga, I was able to reach my upper body forward enough that my head actually touched the ground. I’ve met many yoga teachers in the past few years, and each of them have been unique in their own qualities. But a special place in my memory belongs to this amazing woman. At the end of class, Paige shared a brief story about how she started practicing yoga while she was single mother on welfare, and now runs five yoga studios in Fort Lauderdale, and doesn’t look like she’s about to stop or slow down. She reinforced an important lesson today: We all go through our struggles in life. And if we push ourselves hard enough, we can persevere. Thank you again Paige! Till next we meet!
