Hello my dear followers! This one's specifically dedicated to my readers over on ao3. As the name of the playlist suggests, this is a bunch of songs I think generally fit the vibe of my Ace Attorney fic "Getting through the night". Heed the tags if you want to read as always, and enjoy the angst!
This all started with a singular song one reader recommended in my comments (thank you DemonadeLem!), and it just grew from there. I never imagined I would end up making an actual playlist for a fic, I'm not good at making playlists, but as I went over some of my most listened to music I went "oh what the hell, this all fits". So yeah, I hope the song choices aren't too cringe ^^' I'll probably end up modifying it along the way, but yeah.
Anyway the vibes are all over the place, you can play such fun games as “which character was Space thinking of when she listened to this song?” and “what part of the fic does this song refer to?”. Much like the fic, not everything will be Miles' POV necessarily. There's a bunch of Phoenix's POV angst in there too, it's a mixed bunch. Some songs also kinda have spoilers? Idk I never made a fic playlist, sharing my music tastes with the whole world is intimidating much the same way posting my writing was at first.

i'm thinking that the most obvious/canon-compliant time for narumitsu to get together would be after the 7 year gap because there's a lot of things offscreen and whatnot. Like Edgeworth is said to fly the Wrights out, they're obviously still close, Phoenix looks to Miles for support with Trucy. I like the idea of them falling into this coparenting dynamic and I think it really lends well to the established timeline (we don't see much of anyone's home life because Ace Attorney is them at work etc etc)
Additionally, I really like the idea of them not getting together *at all* during this period. For me, this makes sense because Miles is doing Interpol stuff and Phoenix is trying not to be an alcoholic + plotting Kristoph's demise etc etc, I think neither of them are exactly in the position to admit anything, regardless of if they both know about it (which at this point I think the both know/or maybe even have discussed their feelings with each other but didn't act on it) because they don't feel stable enough to do anything. They've both been tiptoeing around this for like a decade or smth at this point, it's gotta be a hard habit to break.
Another reason I really like this idea is because I like the idea of their romantic roles almost being reversed during the 7yg. During the first trilogy Phoenix is pursuing Miles, he's the one trying to save him, he's the one consistently defending him, he's the one in love with him. Miles is the one pushing him away, the ones who'd not ready yet, the one who doesn't feel deserving of love. Now imagine that switched now because Miles is wayy more emotionally stable/unrepressed/therapy strategy minded now after taking time to rethink prosecuting and what he wants to do with himself (and maybe having a weird situationship with Lang if you're into that) so he would now be pursuing Phoenix, who's down on his luck, forced to rethink the systems that betrayed him, caring for a child, working a bum ass poker/pianist job (having a toxic situationship with the guy who maybe framed him if you're into that).
It's just. So so poetic. I think now Miles has to like prove his devotion almost, *this* is his way of reciprocating. And maybe Phoenix needs a friend more than anything during that time.
And after they finally confess in a drunken or overjoyed daze, I think it wouldn't be hard to implement the whole being in love with eachother thing into their everyday because they already have the framework so now they can do the easy part and kiss eachother whenever they want.
Yeah maybe i should write a fic or something, this isn't like a revolutionary idea but gosh I love happy ending narumitsu, it's like a little treat
But yeah after the Kristoph stuff and after Phoenix gets reinstated they're definitely partying too hardy and having passionate sex so good and so long awaited that neither is really sure it happened. anyways here's the thumbs
