the date
inky-harley:
“Really? Ya like ‘em!” Harley clasped her hands together and bounced in place. It always made her happy to do things that made others happy. Especially when it came to tattooing. There was just something about being able to connect to people through art, art that they were allowing you to put on their body. It made Harley feel connected to people. It made her feel like all her hard work at school wasn’t completely wasted, it was a different form of therapy.
“Well I thought of your name! Plus I was reading up about plants and saw that poison ivy grows around the edges of forests to protect them. So I sorta thought that related to you and the shop. You seem to really like plants and protectin’ em so I thought it was perfect. So I thought that it suited you.” her hands twisted around each other as she spoke, a slight nervousness taking over her as she talked about all the research she did. It was strange, normally she wasn’t so bashful about her passion. Sharing it with Ivy just felt different.
There was this energy around Ivy that Harley could feel. A protective but warm energy. It was something Harley hadn’t experienced. It felt so genuine, Ivy felt genuine. He was beautiful in a way that Harley just couldn’t place. It all made Harley feel eager to impress him, to make this date go as perfectly as humanly possible.
He couldn’t help but smile at her response to his enthusiasm. There was something so genuine and beautiful about Harley’s reactions to everything. Like she could find the beauty in every little thing that she saw. He wished that he was like that, but he could also feel her excitement rubbing off on him already, just by being near her.
As she explained the research she had done, Ivy’s smile grew even wider. He was surprised that she had gone to such lengths to come up with a drawing for his tattoo. It had been a long time since anyone had done anything so thoughtful, and just as long since anyone had really seemed to get him that well, especially so immediately.
“Harley, that’s... that’s so perfect,” Ivy said, his voice softening. He hesitated for a second, before reaching out and putting a hand on hers, just for a second, just long enough to show her how much this all meant to him before pulling away again. There was just something so mesmerizing about her, and the way she already seemed to know him better than anyone else, despite having just met her. “I think it suits me perfectly. I wanna get it done as soon as I can.”
