The last time. I woke up at 5:30 to watch the moon fade and the sun stain the clouds a hazy red. We’re docked in Honolulu and the vessel feels like a dead thing, no longer rolling beneath us in the swell. Land smells strange. Buildings seem impossible. I am still unsure whether I belong here.

I am about to take a nap! 

Wednesdays have always been a weird day for me. I always thought of them kind of pleasantly. Even in school. Before I had a job, and among the people thinking of them as “hump day”. I liked theft that I had made it through the first half of the week. Now is no different. 

I was born on a Wednesday. Now I have Wednesday’s off, with the job I currently have. Today, I took care of errands and shopping. And wasting time away from home. January thaw is here today. I will cook a steak on the grill in an hour or two. But for now, I’m about to lay down and close my eyes.

Christmas Eve Eve

Last night I was going to post a reference to a kids Christmas record from long, long ago. -I do not remember the title of the record. But it was about a news reporter visiting Santa at the North Pole for a few days before Christmas. The reported was named “Reporter Dick”. And on the record, at the end of the day Reporter Dick was exhausted. So he is shown to his room. The room has this famous feather bed in it. And the feather bd is supposed to be notoriously comfortable for sleeping. Santa assures Reporter Dick he will sleep soundly and wake refreshed. Reporter Dick  is happy to get to sleep. And he determines to jump in the bed. That is just what he does. Reporter Dick says, “I’ll just jump right innnnn----” and his voice sinks and fades into distance, as Reporter Dick really does sink into the bed. 

Santa must pull him back to safety. We hear Santa advise him, “Oh no Reporter Dick! You’ve got to ROOOOooooolllll onto the feather bed.”  And Reporter Dick is safe for this part of his adventure at the North Pole.

Christmas Eve Day 2016

Just back from the local Chinese lunch buffet. It’s good food and lots of it. I’m going to nap a bit. Was invited to a Christmas Eve party in Dunstable Mass. My mom is going with me. This is the second one. Went last year also. And it was a great time with great people. And great food and great wine. :)
