It wasn’t often that Emery was in close proximity to a woman who was taller than she; however, that fact did little to make Emery wary. She’d crossed paths with this woman before. Hell, this woman had taken her blood before. Something that Xiao clearly didn’t know. It was something to which Emery was almost certain he’d take offense.

Emery wasn’t here to kill Haru. No, Xiao had been viciously  clear on that fact. Haru was not to be in any form or fashion harmed. Emery, however, was not afraid to leave a few marks to get her target back. Her job was violent after all.

        War was never a delicate matter.

    “Nor am Ah. Ah was nae sen’ tae star’ one.     Onleh tae brin’ ya back. ‘E was quite clear     on t’at.”

A step forward was taken, hands lose and ready at her sides. Her eyes were fixed on the cat-like woman as she advanced. Predator against predator. That was war after all. One predator just happened to be more willing to use teeth.

    she made no move of her own,  watching the other with wary,     albeit slightly disappointed eyes. yes... they had taken blood     from the other when an ally had need of it. this woman was a     strong specimen --- a fact that made haru all the more wary.     and though they would prefer not to bare teeth and claws, the     idea wasn’t completely off the table.

                              it was just her last resort.

    fingers twitched idly,  feeling bare without her weapon.  if xiao     had really convinced this woman to side with him,  they were     curious what had done her in. not that the king didn’t have a     smooth tongue or his own more forceful ways of persuasion;     haru just hoped it hadn’t come to that.

    still as stone, the scout betrayed nothing in their expression     that hadn’t been shared. there was nothing taboo when xiao     was involved.  he knew how she felt about the    war, which meant he knew she had her own war effort that     needed attending to. but what did this woman know?? what,     exactly, was the extent of her knowledge?
