WASH AWAY MY COLORS.
Perhaps it was the fear of Peter not knowing who he was that made Barty so nervous, or perhaps it was just the idea that the other man many not have felt the same way as he did. Shoving all thought aside for later, Bartholomew figured it was best not to dwell on that sort of thing given the current situation he was in. For now, he was simply going enjoy the time he had with Peter, all other worries could wait till he was back in his office. Some things just never seemed to change, did they? Quickly taking his arms back as he was set back onto flat ground, the doctor nodded. Ah did he know the tolls of traveling, god knows he’d been on quite the number of trips across the lands as of late. Forgetting to breath as Peter locked eyes with him, Bartholomew could feel his face begin to heat up. He had to nearly kick himself to form some kind of words, perhaps this was how Peter had felt all those years ago when they’d met, after all the two had both shared how odd they had been with each other on that . ‘ —Ah! Forgive me, I myself am getting over the er, tolls of traveling, I’ve only been here for a few weeks now, I think.’ Shoving his glasses up now that he stood up right, the lanky man couldn't help but to let out a hearty laugh at the others question. ‘ Perhaps I have gotten rather tall over the years. Or perhaps its you who have gotten shorter, old friend. ‘ Winking as he slid his glasses down to flash his blue hues for just a split moment, Bartholomew was quick to shove them back up to the bridge of his nose. ‘ All jokes aside, its nice to you after so long. You’ve grown up into quite the gentleman——!!’ Freezing as his eyes widened Bartholomew quickly sputtered. Was that too upfront? Perhaps that was too forward? Worry fast to set in, the man sputtered to find proper words once again. ‘ ——What I mean to say is its…its nice to have you on as staff as well.. ’ Letting out small noise, Bartholomew made a fuss to look at his watch. ‘ Perhaps its best if I left you to your er, unpacking. My office however is down the hall if you should need anything. ’ Ah yes, time to hide out and nitpick ever little detail of how he managed to embarrass himself in front of the man he’d found himself hopelessly crushing on all these years later.
They fall into their old ways so easily, and Peter feels a weight he didn’t notice before fall off his shoulders. Even after years apart, Barty still had a strange way of making Peter feel at ease. Peter could only hope he was able to provide that same comfort himself.
‘ After all these years, I never imagined you to be the first to make a joke at the expense of my height. ’ The amusement in his eyes is enough to take any disgust out of his words. It certainly doesn’t come as a surprise; Barty has a foot on him, now, when last they met they stood about the same height. It would take some time to grow accustomed to looking up at the other when he spoke.
When Barty begins to stumble over his words, a sort of fondness pulls at Peter’s heart, curling his lips into a smile. ‘ Ah, perhaps. The years have been kind to both of us, it seems. ’ If Barty thought him a gentleman, he should at least play the part a bit. ‘ I’m glad to see more than one familiar face. ’
It will certainly be easier to adjust with both Ozpin and now Barty in the same vicinity. Peter is quite looking forward on catching up with them both.
‘ Oh no, don’t feel intrusive! I don’t mind the company. ’ He is quick to protest the other’s leaving, perhaps against his better judgment. Though, he doesn’t want to force Barty to stay if he does not wish to. ‘ If --- if it’s no trouble to you, would you mind . . . troubling an old man to a cup of coffee? ’
THESE TWO ARE SO CUTE….
‘ …. earlier– a few days ago? ‘ it just hit him the worst right now because he can’t seem to focus on anything, the other’s touch was far cooler than he thought it’d be.
‘ hmm. ’ of course oz didn’t admit to falling ill sooner. the man never ceases to work, sickness be damned. ‘ you need to lay down. you’ll never recover at this rate. ’
and, i found love where it wasn’t supposed to be, right in front of me, talk some sense to me.
❛ DELICIOUSLY INJUDICIOUS. ❜
indie & selective gta ryan haywood NARRATED BY KRISTI ( rebooted from alphxx )
They say once you find someone you love, you never truly let them go even after you both part ways. Its true, though in most cases perhaps its because the couple ended on a bitter note, or perhaps the mind of one of the two simply cannot get enough of the memories and anguish that follow. The case for Bartholomew Oobleck however, was something far more than that. It wasn’t anything out of anguish nor did him and the boy he fell in love with end on a sour note; in fact they ended on one of the best notes they possibly could have. Some people are just destined to go on their own ways, but that didn’t stop the man from writing to the man he’d come to love over the years. In fact Bartholomew found that each and every day he was out on fieldwork, writing to the other seemed to help keep some part of him going, as if the two were fighting side by side, as if he weren’t so alone. In fact, by the time Bartholomew had been asked to join as a staff member back at Beacon Academy, he’d managed to write several journals worth of letters to one Peter Port, not that he’d let anyone near those. God no, those were things he’d seen, things he’d collected in that mind of his, time in which it seemed like the world itself would collapse in on itself. All things that only Peter could really understand. Perhaps he’d grown too attached to the idea of having someone with him. Perhaps Bartholomew had become spoiled over the years he went to school with the other. Fate, destiny, and the paths each of our lives seem to take all have odd ways of come back together, crossing us back into someone from our past; even to those who don’t want to be seen. Breath caught in his lungs as soon as he realized why the rather smaller male before him looked so familiar the poor doctor nearly sent himself into a coughing fit. “ Peter? Peter Port? ” The name seemed to roll off his tongue just as it did all those years ago. Reminding himself to breathe, Bartholomew seemed to forget all about the moving in he had left to do, or the countless papers he had yet to set up in order for the first day of school to go over smoothly. Instead, his attention was taken by something far more important than anything history or his travels could offer. Allowing himself to get lost in the moment for perhaps a minute too long, the doctor nearly jumped when he realized he was being pulled down into a hug of all things. Laughter starting to bubble out from himself Bartholomew simply wrapped his hands around Peter. “ It’s been far too long, my old friend! How have you been? Better question in fact. Where have you been, hm? From what I understand you were quite the man for Ozpin to track down! ”
Perhaps it was foolish to fall for the fleet-footed boy and all his lankiness. After all, very few student romances last beyond graduation. Peter was only setting himself up for disappointment and the loss of a potential friend. And yet, Peter still let himself adore and love Bartholomew all the same, as if graduation would never come, and they would never part.
He, however, could not live in that fantasy forever. One more night was spent with the boy he hopelessly crushed on before they reluctantly parted ways. They never lost contact though. Scores of letters piled up over the years, and boys slowly matured into men, inexperienced huntsmen into veterans, and eventually, students into teachers.
Peter had graciously accepted the invitation to teach when Ozpin approached him. He missed his old friend dearly, and Peter was quite eager to return to Beacon. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that Barty had been offered the same opportunity.
It is the anticipation of seeing him in person after so long that encourages Peter to seek him out as soon as possible. The anxiousness that followed him all through his childhood begins to creep up and pull at the edges of his mind, but years of coping help him to push it away. He hardly notices it when he knocks on the door, and doesn’t remember why he was anxious at all when he finally sees him.
A smile stretches across Peter’s face. Barty is so much more beautiful than Peter could ever have imagined. He truly has blossomed, and Peter is so very proud of him.
Barty barely gets his name out before Peter is moving, pulling him into a crushing hug. In his excitement, Peter very slightly lifts Barty off the floor. ‘ Bartholomew Oobleck, you are surely a sight for sore eyes! I am quiet well, my friend! A bit drained --- travelling does take it’s toll eventually --- but, I digress. ’ Setting the other down, Peter looks up to meet Barty’s eyes before speaking. ‘ --- have you gotten taller? ’
Its early, classes are due to start soon but thats not going to stop Bartholomew from quietly slipping into the other's class to visit, and of course give the shorter male a kiss or two as he does such.
he greets barty with a warm smile && extends his arm to pull him in by the waist. ‘ good morning, my love. ’ he steals another kiss, then one more for good measure. ‘ don’t you have a class to teach ? you’ll be late — ’
....u guys wanna read some cute portbleck??

‘ — I don’t feel well. ‘ he’s looking pretty pale even more than normal. There was absolutely no color in his cheeks it seemed.
concern floods his immediate consciousness, spurring him to gently feel the other’s forehead. ‘ --- you’re burning up, oz. when did you start feeling ill ? ’
