Now I finally have the time to have a throwback to this awesome weekend in Leipzig. Team Grizzly has put a huuge effort into organizing the Grizzly Crit, the first Criterium in Leipzig. It has been part of the Neuseen-Classics which take part every year around Leipzig with long rides in the beautiful (though there are no mountains) nature.
After a 9h trip by 🚌 and 🚇 I arrived at my hostel, strolled around a bit and went to the University where an Alleycat organized by the Grizzlies took place. The topic was Super Mario and it was great fun to watch and help. After the award ceremony in the Clarapark with prices by Aurora, biehler and many more we spent time chatting, drinking 🍻 and talk shop I was brought to my hostel by 🚗 by one of the team members (thanks again!)
On the next day (race day) I did some shopping and finally took a Tram to the Alte Messe, where a Streetfood Festival took place next to the place where the race was to be. I spent some time eating and drinking (Mate above everything!) and chatting with the fixie people I got to know the day before and others. I helped a bit keeping the course clean as there always was wind and after 10 min the course was dirty again (devastation level 1000).
Then the race started. It was my first fixie race to watch live, as there are no Crits in Bavaria where I come from (What I forgot: The people in Leipzig could understand me yayyy!). It was great to watch and to shoot (📹 with me always and everywhere). I had so much fun cheering the riders on (that escalated quickly). After the race I went home by the last Tram and had a not too long 💤, as the FlixBus back to Munich took off at 10:30 and I had also to check-out and pack my stuff…
Overall, I had a really lovely weekend and a huge massive thank you to all the Grizzly people who were really nice and accepting (even wanted to lend me a 🚴 so I could race). I will definitely be back next year (Maybe also racing on my new fixie)!!
