here’s a long masterpost for those who wants to dress cute but don’t have lots of money! ♡ here you’ll find some advices, useful vocabulary and a loooong list of shops !
*important to note that those shops usually go up to US size 14-16, sometimes 18, i’m sorry! if a shop goes higher, it will be written in the description !!!
first of all, here’s some shopping advices!

if you use chrome, i recommend you use the google translate tool to translate the pages! it’s not 100% legit but it’s enough to tell you what’s the item you’re looking at, or what you’re clicking on.
ALWAYS look at the measurements of each item you want to order. a 1X here isn’t the same as a 1X there. for exemple, i usually wear X to 2X but for now i’ve always ordered 4-5X items.
some shop will tell you their model’s measurements and what size they wear, so this can be really helpful too! i personally found a shop who’s model has the same measurements as me, so i bought a lot of stuff from them ~
you can always look at the comments if you want to make sure a shop is legit, but of course use the google translate tool if you don’t speak mandarin! some even put pics ~ the comment section is there :
look at the shop ‘ pangnuodama’ for this cute shirt!
be careful when you look for pants! they’re usually tight around the thighs or quite short if you have long legs, so take your own measurements well and compare them to the ones they give really carefully!
here’s some useful words if you want to search on taobao by yourself:
胖妹妹 : big sister 女宽 : large woman 200斤 : 200 pounds 200斤胖 : 200 pounds of fat 装大 : big size 大 : big
*translation might not be legit as i don’t speak mandarin, but those are words they often use in their titles*
here’s how to look at your measurements!
first of all, here’s how the size guides usually look :
sadly, not all clothes in the same shop has the same measurements, so it’s important to check the size guide of every piece you want to buy. sometimes, there’s shops who will add their model’s measurements and say which size they wear on the pics, so you can compare yourself to her! there’s even some shop who will make different women wear their product and tell which size they wore for their measurements, here’s an example :
but of course, if you don’t speak mandarin, you probably have no idea what those measurements are, so here’s some useful words to know! i keep a file on my computer’s desktop containing all these words with my own measurements next to them so shopping goes faster! note that since this isn’t an american website, they use cm instead of inches! credits to @kocha__b on twitter again, ily ~

please ignore their name fjhslda they have really cute but classy clothing! not the cheapest shop on the list, but they’re still a lot cheaper than most american plus size shops i know! for example, i found a autumn coat for only 30 usd~!

i think it’s probably the most popular plus size shop on taobao. it has a lot of cute clothing, like this strawberry dress that i fell in love with but didn’t dare to buy. if i compare the size chart of this shop to one from canada, their clothes go up to size 22, even sometimes 24! so check it out ♡

ok now, sit down because this is my favorite shop out there, but it’s probably because their model has the same measurements as me. i would buy all of their clothes if i could, and their price is quite abordable. sadly, they seem to only go up to size 16 T T

if you’re searching for some classy clothes, this is the shop for you! though, their sizing isn’t consistant so it’s very important to check their measurements. some of the clothes they have aren’t even plus sized, since i, who wears 14, can’t even get some of their clothes, but if i compare some of them to the canadian sizing chart i have, it seems like some of their clothes goes up to size 20, so it’s important to check carefully before buying !

a loooooot of basics! perfect if you’re looking for shirts to put under a dress or overalls, like this turtleneck or this shirt. they also have a bunch a cute sweaters and hoodies, in brief, lots a comfortable clothing! and they’re cheap!! like, almost everything is under 15 usd!

tight clothing doesn’t seem to go up to size 14, but they have lots of baggy clothes, like their hoodies and trenchcoats, so if you check the measurements well you might be able to find clothes your size ! for example, if i look at the bust size of this hoodie, it goes up to size 24, maybe even 26 ! same goes for this long winter coat, who goes up to size 24 too ~

almost everything in this shop is made of jeans, so if you’re looking for a nice vest or a pair of jeans, this is where you want to look ! but, like i said earlier, be careful because often, the hips aren’t really wide, so if you have wide hips, you either need to look carefully at the measurements, or simply stick to the vests.

listen,,,, their clothes are so pretty!! if you’re looking for really comfy sweaters, this is the shop you’re looking for! but sadly, some of their clothes aren’t made for plus sized woman. though, there are a loooot of baggy clothes that could fit woman who size over 16 ! but be careful since there are some clothes who are one size. if you’re scared to fall in love with an item that they dont have in your size, you can always click on ‘4XL’ or ‘5XL’ at the top!

lots of pretty and classy looking clothes again ~ like, literally the kind you would see a woman doctor in a kdrama wear, you see? i found a dress shirt that, if i look at the bust size, goes up to size 24 ! so if you search well, i’m sure there’s more clothes in this shop that has the same size ~

pretty clothes, but sadly most of their clothing goes up to XL. i added them to this list because they still have some that goes up to size 18, just need to click on ‘3XL’ at the top !
now, how to order !
sadly, taobao only ships inside of china, so you can’t directly buy from their website. you need to use a website that will order what you want for you ! i personally use taobaoring that for now works pretty well for me. you just need to create an account, add your address, then click on ‘quick order’ ! after that, you pretty much just have to follow the instruction they give you ~ after you enter the item’s link, all you need to enter is the color you want, the size, then , if the price that’s written isn’t right, you just have to enter it yourself! you can also add any note you want in the comment section, like “please pack it well~”.
