as the days ease deeper into september, the soundscapes of autumn steadily bleed into each morning. something about the blanket of coolness which descends upon the earth as autumn is born drains the last dregs of summer's saturation from every leaf. these rustling, sun-bleached leaves are carried by the low rumbling rivers of wind, which pour through expectant doorways. there also comes an old familiar silence, something distinctly linked to the cicadas' slip into hibernation. insects of all caliber, once filling the muggy summer months with their signature ceaseless song, exit the stage alongside the heat and relinquish the spotlight. stillness, slowness, and peaceful greyness envelopes each romantic soul in a comforting embrace. while the ubiquitous cawing of crows may frighten the uninitiated, true children of autumn herald the birds' proclamation as a good omen for the season to come.
