The editing of this video is hysterical and genius- they switch between so many editing styles to reflect exactly what kind of thing they're going for in each segment its GREAT.
This card appears when you are called back to the reason you began. Before the goals, before the audience and before the comparison. The Bliss is the spark of creative joy that exists for its own sake. In artistic life, bliss is often mistaken for ease. It is not. What makes it sacred is that it generates energy rather than draining it. Time bends. Curiosity returns. The work becomes its own reward. What makes you feel most alive in the act of creation itself? Not just successful or impressive; alive.

*I think this summer I'm going to take these 80 posts and print them out into laminated cards I can actually use :)
One of the many, many things I love about our boy is how expressive he is. The full range of dopamine-infused humanity that washes over his face in this interview alone is artistically intoxicating :) I haven't even scratched the surface....
I'm afraid I still haven't seen this movie....Honestly so many pieces our Pedrito has done that I'm only familiar with vicariously. But for the new exercises in our art class I think it's going to work better to use pre-made digital images from my past. That way I'm not so precious about the results, and then I can save new works for things I'm passionate about, rather than technique....
Okay I don't hate it. But I don't love it. I feel like we need to go and get our eyeglasses checked or something. Sigh. But it's softer. Less precise. I need to learn more about shading. This is going to be an abysmal attempt at surrender. Artistic surrender. I don't hate it. But I don't love it yet either....
Bleghghg.....I'm gonna try this same portrait three different ways with three different techniques. Wish me luck....
This MUST have transpired after that LSD incident. I'm trying to move on from Surrealism but it has me in its clutches. Definitely read the triggers first before watching....
Triggers; violence, disturbing imagery, fast cuts, insects, partial nudity, depictions of death, assault, groping, guns...surrealism is weird y'all....
This was inspired by....quite a few things actually. Pedge has spoken about his enjoyment of the art piece "The Clock" by Christian Marclay, and I thought it would be fun to edit quick cuts of surrealistic cinema with surrealistic music. The references are as follows:
1.) The Holy Mountain
2.) Eraserhead
3.) The Discreet Charm of the Burgeoisie
4.) Un Chien Andalou
5.) Mulholland Drive
6.) Captain Beefheart
*And I thought my experience with shrooms was weird...
"I think that today and maybe my entire life, relationships seem so impossible because of such ridiculous incompatibilities. I mean people can break up over disagreeing about a 'Game of Thrones' episode. And here you realize that nothing is insurmountable. And that finding the right person can mean a love that conquers all, and that's very inspiring".

Hmmm....do I like this? I think so. Maybe. Yes. Possibly. This is the moment when you just post something so you don't overwrought yourself. But it was inspired by the the Vanity Fair shoot. I'm incorporating a lot of elements here. I also just rediscovered this quote at the end of my favorite Modern Love episode, narrated by Pedro Pascal, and I don't see if quoted hardly ever, if ever.

What a strange day. I'm headed into the summer months and there was more stress and disappointment at the onset than I anticipated. But I think I've made some good choices, and this was one of them! You can't really tell, but the interior is constructed of burlap textures and it turned out pretty good!
You wouldn't think this image could lead to anger, but this was one of the rare times my i-pad decided to glitch and set me back about an hour. But it's hard to watch any of the puppy interview and stay frustrated :) Trying to get into a summer mindset of relaxation...we'll see how long it takes me....
Oh my love. The puppy interview is NOT an actual movie, you say? Well, it is if you watch it eight times in a row. This is my Roman Empire y'all. I mean, we had been waiting for several years, but especially as an asexual this is about as close as I get to actually enjoying porn of any kind. Puppy porn? I don't even know, but give me a man enjoying himself while I watch. Sigh. I was planning on doing more with this, but I don't want to over stimulate us. Just enjoy this for the moment. I know I did.
Oi. It's always the ones that seem the easiest that inadvertently become the hardest. But I'm proud of myself for posting this one because it's not quite right. The track is off and I didn't follow any guidelines which was a fun process albeit without exaction.
"DADA does not mean anything. If you find it futile and don't want to waste your time on a word that means nothing. Sensibility is not constructed on the basis of a word; all constructions converge on perfection which is boring, the stagnant idea of a gilded swamp, a relative human product. A work of art should not be beauty in itself, for beauty is dead; it should be neither gay nor sad, neither light nor dark to rejoice or torture the individual by serving him the cakes of sacred aureoles or the sweets of a vaulted race through the atmospheres. A work of art is never beautiful by decree, objectively and for all. Hence criticism is useless, it exists only subjectively, for each man separately, without the slightest character of universality. Does anyone think he has found a psychic base common to all mankind? Freedom: DADA DADA DADA, a roaring of tense colors, and interlacing of opposites and of all contradictions, grotesques, inconsistencies: LIFE."
Excerpts of the Dada Manifesto by Tristan Tzara
Sometimes self-awareness begins to fold inward on itself. This is the gift and danger of reflection; the ability to examine your motives, wounds, performances, and patterns so deeply that insight risks becoming paralysis. The Meta moment represents consciousness, accountability, artistic depth, and emotional intelligence. The ability to observe yourself honestly is powerful. It allows transformation, reinvention and compassion. But every mirror becomes a maze if stared into long enough. In its shadow form, The Meta Moment becomes obsessive self-analysis, identity performance, narcissism disguised as introspection, or the exhaustion of constantly narrating your own existence. You begin living one step outside yourself, watching instead of participating.
It's probably ill advised, but I promised myself I'd pursue any artistic idea that popped into my mind, especially with less perfectionism, so I'm going to introduce a writing challenge! If I even get a couple participants I'll follow through.
Do y'all remember the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books we might have read as kids? I was the weirdo who made charts of every possible scenario so I could select the best outcome. And there are so many wonderful fics that share so many aspects in common, I wondered if we wanted to take that one step further.
If I get a few participants, I'm going to set us up with a 1k starter to introduce our Joel Miller inspired characters. And then, people can request options 1-10 to "finish the chapter". You could continue your fic in one direction, if curious. If enough people participated we could even hand off chapters to one another, but we'll see if any of this strikes a chord. I don't want to put too many restrictions, so let's make sure our content warnings list any sensitive topics at the very top of the post. Here are some of our favorite options;
1.) Enemies to Lovers: The undisputed king of Tumblr tropes. The platform thrives on characters with deep, burning animosity who are ultimately forced to acknowledge their intense attraction to one another.
2.) Fake Dating / Fake RelationshipCharacters: pretending to be romantically involved for a specific reason (to fool parents, save face, or complete a mission) who eventually catch real feelings.
3.) Mutual Pining: When two characters are deeply in love with each other but are both convinced the other doesn't feel the same way. This is usually accompanied by pages of internal monologues or dramatic “angst".
4.) Found Family: A beloved staple across all fandoms. The concept of a group of broken, unrelated characters banding together to become each other's chosen family is highly celebrated.
5.) Slow Burn: The agonizing, incredibly satisfying romance dynamic where a relationship builds at a snail's pace. It involves tension, accidental touches, and years of waiting.
7.) Hurt/Comfort: Characters caring for each other after one of them gets physically or emotionally broken, beaten, or traumatized. The "I will burn the world for hurting you" sentiment is peak Tumblr.
6.) Forced Proximity: Characters are forced into a confined space—like getting stuck in a storm, hiding in a closet, or having to share a bed—forcing them to confront their feelings.
8.) Forced Proximity: When traveling or staying at an inn, characters are dismayed (and secretly thrilled) to find there is only one bed available.
9.) Rom Com Vibes: It might be difficult to find during “The Infection” but somehow our heroes have arrived in a romantic comedy. Maybe it’s a flashback, maybe it’s a dream sequence, maybe it’s a sitcom based on “The Last of Us”. All we know is, we love it.
10.) The Golden Retriever / Black Cat Dynamic: The pairing of an incredibly sunny, enthusiastic, or innocent character (Golden Retriever) with a dark, broody, or nonchalant grump (Black Cat).
Just claim a number in the comment section below and if we get a few participants this could be a fun activity primairly for the month of June!
