Felyn'mice Arkanana, aged 91. …I’m a young adult, just to make that clear for everyone. That’s not old, I’m still young.

Why do you want to work here?

I spent all my money on a fancy cauldron and now I am broke. Also, I feel I would make a good fit.

What experience do you have working with magical items?

I’ve been making magical items since I was a child. They aren’t amazing, but I can manage it.

Would you say your hair is shiny or dull?

I understand that you have little knowledge of drow culture, but you’ve just insulted me and my line. My hair is shiny.

How tall are you?

6'7"

What are your thoughts regarding birds?

I’m neutral. Birds can be a torment or a blessing. I think it’s up to the bird.

How fast can you run?

Fairly quickly. I have long legs.

On a scale of one to ten, how much do you hate orange?

Why should we consider you as an applicant?

Magic is my only talent. I’m fairly useless at everything else, but I know my craft.

Howl: “Well if she’s going to be around from now until the next forever it saves us having to retrain staff.” Sophie: “You wouldn’t have been doing any of the training anyway, Howl. Still, it’s an excellent point.”

Howl: “Fair.” Sophie: “Sounds familiar, doesn’t it, Howl? At least she’s doing something about it instead of just waiting for the next payday to come in.”

Howl: “While I disagree with how ‘amazing’ it can be, the honesty is appreciated.” Sophie: “Everything’s subjective, you know. Especially in the magic world. I’m sure they’re useful in  their own way.”

Howl: “Oh good, someone with taste! Someone who understands the hair-shine, Sophie! Hired.” Sophie: “That’s not what she was trying to tell you, Howl.”

Howl: “She can reach the taller shelves. Hired.” Sophie: “Perfect. Some of the more volatile books don’t like stairs.”

Howl: “Quite right. I happen to be both.” Sophie: “That’s a lie. You’re absolutely a torment. At least she’s open-minded about it.”

Howl: “An advantage in case of…emergencies…” Sophie: “Yes, absolutely. Always a plus in our line of work.”

Howl: “Could stand for more orange-hate, don’t you think, Sophie?” Sophie: “If this is what you look for in an employee, I’m not sure you should be involved in the hiring process.”

Howl: “Well everyone needs at least one talent.” Sophie: “Maybe she can pick up on one or two more while working here.”

The tinkle of a bell announces you. The air inside is heavy, charged. Potent. Even the dust motes in the air glitter under the sun’s rays, spilling in through the shop’s glass windows.

There are magicks here, no doubt about that.

Mind your step as you walk in. The spacious interior of the shop is consumed by the sheer volume of merchandise. Organized chaos at best, a ragtag nest of belongings at worst. A basket of ribbons sits just by the entrance. By the register sits another basket of hagstones. Colourful embroidered cloths adorn every flat surface - and a few shaky ones too. Overhead spins a hundred glittering baubles. Mobiles, jewels, pendants. All whispering secrets.

A bookshelf is crammed along one wall, all but bursting with the knowledge it holds. Suitably, the Elf sits there too, knowing too much and saying far more than it should.

The Elf is always for sale.
