Everyone was back in their dorms, Blood Pride Day coming to an end. Percy was happy with himself. They had really told the ministry off this time hadnt they? They had really done it. Students had joined in on the fight, and the poliezi had been stunned that they'd pull off a thing like this at all.
It was a dangerous game they had played. But Percy felt as if they had won this battle. It had gone well after all! And the boy had made it out with out any broken bones, something he was happy with. But he knew it wasn't over. He couldn't be home free, no, he was sure the ministry would be looking for his face. Not as much as they would be looking for Niles...but he knew the poliezi had seen him rallying.
He had no regrets about it. This is why he wanted, this is what his dad wanted. His dad had fought the good fight so he and his siblings could live a good life, so Percy just made sure he hadnt died for nothing. And he wasnt ashamed of that. Not one bit. This was his purpose. Rose didnt think he had a hold on what he wanted to do with his future, but he did, more than she knew. He wanted to continue helping the people, making their lives better and fighting the minister who he knew in his heart was only going to make things worse.Ā Whatever the cost, he was going to keep doing exactly this. And for once, he felt like he had actually done something his dad would be proud of.
This euphoria he felt didnt last long. He knew the poliezi would be coming, he knew someone would come around. Percy quickly ducked user his bed, his heart speeding when he heard the foot steps grow closer.
"There's one boy in particular we're looking for" a female voice said...Percy thought it sounded like the woman who came from the ministry...his right hand woman...he knew something was going wrong. Who were they looking for? What boy? Was it Midas? Maybe it was Niles...but why would try refer to him as a boy?
Suddenly the door burst open and Percy saw four men and the woman barge in. He tried to stay as quiet She could under the bed, trying desperately to slow his heart. He was sure they could hear it beating.
"He could be anywhere in here" the woman said. "This is the last time he goes against the ministry and we let it slide"
The men got excited. They were ready for the hunt. They were ready for the kill. Without a second thought they destroyed the room, pillaging to find someone, desperately in need. Percy was getting more and more nervous. They were going to find him...they were going to find him...
Immediately after he had those thoughts, to hands grabbed his legs and tugged him out from under the bed. Percy screamed and reached for his wand, the space under the bed so restricting that he couldn't reach it.
That had been his last chance, this was it. The men pulled him out, but Percy had continued to scream.Ā Their hatred-filled glared burned into his mind when they finally got them out.
"We found him- this is the boy we were looking for." The woman said, her smile showing her evil happiness.
Ā Maybe this was it. Maybe he'd just experience more pain. Or maybe this was the end. They had said that he wouldn't get away with it this time. Percy was finally going to get what he deserved, so they said.
Ā "So you're the boy who thinks he can fuck with the ministry? Percy de Luca? I think I knew your father...same deep brown eyes. Same angry look in his eyes." Her eyes narrowed as she said the next thing, her words coming out as a whisper. "You're gonna die just as he did."
Percy thrashed, his head spinning. For some reason, all these times that he imagined dying for the cause, he hadn't imagined losing his head. He hadn't imagined that he would be afraid.
"Some one get his wand from him." She said to one of her poliezi goons. They immediately pulled off his robe, sticking their hands deep into his pockets, pulling out the wand abruptly. Percy had a had glare on his face, everyone could sense the anger, the fear just a layer below.Ā
"Percy de Luca. It's time to face the consequences. Come with us." It was like she had completely switched. She had tortured him with that statement before, and now she was professional, harshly impersonal. Percy didnt like it.
The men grabbed him by the shoulders and carried him out of the room. Percy could tell that other poliezi were searching for kids, or wandering the halls trying to keep things in more order than it had been a few house before. The air was dark- ominous. It was almost stale. As if the energy of the days rebellion were starting to dry.
Percy didnt know how long it took them to end up at his destination. Where was he? The darkness was engulfing, no details stuck out to give him any clue. He could hear people whispering, he could hear the steps of people shuffling around. But that wasnāt enough for him to figure out where they were. It was so dark in hereā¦he was confused as to how anyone could see.
āThereās no use waiting any longer.ā She said, motioning for them men to drop Percy.
He fell to the floor, and she took the moment to take out her wand, pointing at him fiercely.
āWe already have the Partisanās leaders. The fight is over for you rebels. Sadly for you Perseus, weāll be making you the example of what could come to anyone else who fights like this.ā
Percy had been made an example before. He could deal with more broken bones, he could deal with the heart ache of not swimming, or not participating in thingsā¦he could deal with the utter pain if it meant that he had helped this cause. But then he remembered. This wasnāt like before. This was different. She said he would die tonight. This was his execution.
A million thoughts ran into his head as he realized this. His momās beautiful face appeared first, the wrinkles of hard work outlined in her face. Xavier and Artemisā¦his siblings he loved so much and always had in mind when he imagined fighting. Then there were all his friends. Severine..whom he knew was special in her very own way. Who was beautiful inside and out- despite what otherās said. And Marinaā¦his lovely, always excited friend who seemed to always put a smile on his face. She was so perfect tooā¦a person filled with dreams and love⦠she was so innocent. He would miss seeing her smile.
Then there were the two most important people in his life. Rose and Sutton. Such different peopleā¦but each so important to him. It amazed the boy how that could be. Roseā¦truly his best friend. Always there for him in the pastā¦and even though they had their share of squirmishes, Percy loved her so much. Her hot chocolate that she would get for himā¦the way that they could listen to each other for hours on end and never get annoyed. It seemed like Rose was justā¦.different for him. The moment Percy knew she was joining the poleiziā¦that was a moment that rocked him hard. But even then, the two tried hard not to let that get between them. 1st year Rose flew into his mind, the image of the little red head standing with those big eyes on the platform. The sound of her laugh appeared, and Percy wished that that could be the sound he heard for eternity.
Sutton. Sutton Ages, the girl Percy had hopelessly fallen for. However hard he tried he couldnāt climb out of the giant hole he dug for himself with her. She was sunshine. She was energy. She was luckiness, and perfection, and amazing. She was incredible. Sutton was what Percy fought for. The world baby Gemma would live in needed to be better than the one he had for himself. He needed Ā to fight for those two. Even though Sutton wasnāt the one for himā¦she was the one for him. She was it. Whether it be romantically or not he knew that they had been meant to spend their lives togetherā¦.at least they had been.
The way her smile gleamed and her cheeks dimpled when she laughed appeared in Percyās mind. The memory of him teaching her how to swim, the time when he let her cut his hair. The time Percy held her when she cried, or when he poured his heart out in that letter. When Percy got to feel Gemma kick. Ā But this was it. This was the end.
When he got pulled from his memories, it was as if time had stood still. The woman still held her wand at him. She still held that dangerous glare.
āAny last words Perseus?ā
He didnāt even hesitate to say these words through his clenched teeth and tears.
And his body fell to the ground without any trace of the precious soul left inside.
