Sutton watched people around her hug people she, and everyone else, had presumed dead. She wondered where they were coming from? How they were here?
She wondered why she didn’t see anyone there for her...
Gemma held her arms around Sutton’s neck as she supported the little girl’s legs.
“Ev’wy’one looks happy Mummy.” She mumbled in Sutton’s ear.
“They are happy Babygirl!” Sutton said, forcing a smile as she looked over her shoulder to glance at Gemma. She began wandering around aimlessly, in hopes of seeing a familiar face that had long been gone.
“What a couple o’ stunners.” She heard a female voice from behind her and she stopped in her tracks, turning around slowly - afraid that the hope would be crushed.
“It’s me Babygirl.” She said. So that’s where Sutton got that from.
“Oh my god...” She set Gemma down carefully and threw her arms around the woman, slightly afraid she’d vanish. “Oh my god.. you’re here... How are you here?” She cried.
“I dunno Sweetie Pie but let me give my Granddaughter a squeeze too!”
Sutton felt a tug on her shirt, though everything around her seemed surreal at the time. “Mummy why a’ you crying?”
“Mummy’s very happy Gemma! Meet your grandma.” Sutton said, handing her daughter over to her mother, as much as she never believed she’d do that.
“Hiya Gemma! I’m your Nana, it’s lovely to meet you!”
“I seen you in pickshas.” Gemma mumbled, hugging the woman who hugged her right back.
“Sutton I’m so proud of you.” She said, holding an arm out for her to join the hug and even though part of Sutton still couldn’t believe this was real she could only hug the unlikely pair tightly because she’d wanted to hear her mother say that since she held Gemma in her arms for the first time.
