Why do you think Mayuri was not raised to be a shinigami? This sounds really interesting!

For the short version, Mayuri was never a Shinigami to begin with, and only joined the ranks of the Gotei 13 when Urahara invited him to the 12th Division. For the most part, Mayuri was a criminal that was locked up underneath the 2nd Division jailcell.

✖ How has Tumblr RP changed since you started?
Oh lord. Okay, you guys are about to find out my age.
So, if you’re referring to RPing on tumblr itself, it was actually a lot easier. We didn’t need Xkit to be able to write correctly, we could cut threats a lot easier, and we could even size our own damn pictures right on the thread.
A lot of the reason I took a break from RPing was because Tumblr changed its code so much, and when they took away the ability to size the images on the thread itself, because at the time I had a handful of RP blogs and they all had huge af sizes, which I didn’t even think about until they took up half of the damn thread.
If we’re referring to the communication as a whole, than aish. Back when I started RPing, people weren’t as stuck up. Everyone followed everyone, regardless of how their blog looked or how they formatted everything. I actually made friends RPing. There were no blog passwords, no hidden meaning in the rules, no formatting text and bolding every other word so it ‘looked cool’. It was just staying in character and having a good time about it.
Do I understand why the Rping community has become this way? Yeah, I can see why, because there are some people who abuse that power, or some people who just don’t understand their characters or people’s boundaries. But do I think it’s gone too far? Yeah, a little, ngl.

Why does Mayuri put his sword in front of him and not on his side?

It’s an interesting question that I’ve often mulled over myself. There are just some questions you don’t ask about Mayuri, and that’s one of them, haha. That’s like asking why he paints his skin, why he wears giant hats and headgear, why he doesn’t have ears, or why he wears a puffy purple scarf.
I honestly think he wears it like that to be different. Mayuri doesn’t like to fit in, that much is apparent with his make-up just in itself, and he doesn’t like to be generic. I feel like it also has something to do with the fact that he wasn’t raised to be a Shinigami, so he doesn’t follow their customs, but then that’s getting into my own headcanons (which you kind of need because Tite Kubo failed Bleach’s ending still salty)
Another reason I think is because of easier access, maybe? I’ve actually cosplayed as Mayuri before, and it’s a lot easier to grip and grab the sword when it’s in front of you whereas it stays by your side and you have to reach all the way across your body to get it. Especially with Mayuri’s battle style where he has to get in close to use Ashisogi Jizo, he needs for it to be a surprise attack.
Interestingly enough, after the first battle against the Quincies, after Yhwach kills Yamamoto-sotaicho, when Mayuri creates his light suit, he keeps his Zanpakuto tucked in his left sleeve, once again differentiating from the typical Shinigami uniform. Even with the Captain’s uniform underneath it while fighting Pernida after his Light Suit self-destructs, he still keeps it tucked in his sleeve until he uses it.

♒ Thoughts on the fandom you’re currently rping in?
I love this fandom. They’re all really so nice and accepting, and I haven’t had any problems with them at all. I’ve been in the Bleach fandom probably for most of my RPing life, and everyone is just so pleasant to talk to and wonderful all-around.
I mean, there are some people who are mean as all hell and I’ve seen it on the dash, but I haven’t had anything directed at me personally for no reason (well, there was one instant with someone vague blogging but I put a stop to that). And then there are the ship wars, but I think those are pretty much everywhere.

♥ What's the WORST thing that has happened to you rp wise?
One word: Godmodding. I absolutely hate that. And I’ve had that happen to me twice. Both times I dropped the thread. If it is not your character, do not control their movements. You will not know how they will react or take things that happen in the previous post.
Even if you think you know the character, you don’t know how the Roleplayer plays the character. Every interaction is unique, and even another Mayuri RPer is going to have different reactions than mine. I see it from the Mayuris I follow on my main blog.
Oh, and Mary-Sues, but that’s a different story, and I can mostly swallow that bitter pill.

✂ A fandom that you feel isn't open and accepting?
The Naruto fandom, lol. It seems like you can’t really do anything in that fandom unless you’re like, a Naruto or Sasuke. I tried RPing a character there once, and everyone just acted so high and mighty and like they were better than everyone else around them. I think two people welcomed me to the community, and only one of those had a steady conversation with me over IM.
Honestly the worst time I’ve ever had RPing a character, like ever. Yikes.

So, I’m actually a pretty calm person and I never get mad over anything online, because what’s the point, but as I stated above, someone vague blogged about me because they misunderstood what I said. I absolutely hate it when people vague blog ooc. (I’m kind of a hypocrite because Mayuri does it, but character / mun right?) So I unfollowed and sent them a message saying they misunderstood what I was saying, so whoops.
