The last days of the petition against conversion therapy are FASCINATING to watch. I have been following it pretty closely for almost a year now, and the progress was, above all, steady. There was this jump when some algorithm in Finland picked it up, but even that was local.

And now, everyone is panicking.

Which really shows.

These past three or four days, multiple countries have reached the threshold. Even more notably, the number of signatures in total, the ones that we need to get one million of, are growing rapidly. There are only 400'000 signatures missing. Two days ago, it was closer to 600'000.

Only 170k signatures needed now! The deadline is May 17th aka TOMORROW - which is close, but it's gaining 100k+ signatures per day - which means there's a real chance the petition could make it! And they've already met enough of the per-country thresholds to qualify on that basis!

I literally do not understand @perfectlylogicalexplanation's take on a reversed Big Dipper AU. Like, they said that nothing would really change if Mabel was the older one. Like, what? It's unclear whether they mean same as canon or same as Big Dipper AU, but either way, it just doesn't make sense. Teen Mabel would not be the same as Teen Dipper or canon Mabel. Maybe they meant Dipper would be the same as canon? Idk.

Mabel's character is largely dependent on her interactions with other people. Candy, Grenda, Pacifica, Mermando, etc. She's a very social person, and her age is likely to affect her interactions with others, even if not by her conscious choice.

She is not petty enough to hold a grudge against a child, unless said child tried to murder her brother or something. So the whole deal with Pacifica would be quite different. Candy and Grenda would likely be the same, though, I don't really see Mabel treating people differently based on age. Unless it's her sibling.

I'm not sure how the other teenagers would see her. Maybe it depends on whether she's in her goth phase? At least they're more likely to accept her than in canon. And it would likely lead to a hilarious scene where Mabel denies that she's babysitting Dipper because "He's a big boy."

So essentially Dipper simultaneously hates her and cherishes her more than anything. Kind of like in canon, but to a much greater extent since she acts more like an annoying mom than a sister.

(Also I do not at all find it hard to believe that Mabel would go out Robbie. First off, Mabel is willing to go out with anyone. She is just plain dumb. Whether Robbie would agree is a different issue. Maybe they said that because she's probably more mature, idk.)

it has been literally years since i have so much as touched this fandom or this au but hopefully i can clear it up for you:

mabel and dipper are siblings and they are also flawed. they have shown jealousy in regards to each other, discomfort, but also a lot of love. they love each other so much. the au would not change because of that love. how mabel might treat dipper is definitely different then how dipper would treat mabel, but the core of it all would stay the same which is the question i was answering. mabel and dipper are completely different people and would react to different situations differently, but they are, also, incredibly alike.

the ask was in regards to dipper and mabel's relationship, not how she would have been different.

i will say, that putting any girl or woman in a mothering role is not the greatest especially considering the history of how daughters, especially, are used as a 'third parent'. young girls, no matter how old they are, tend to be forced into the caring role at an incredibly young age by their parents. dipper breaks that role by not just caring for his sister but also doing it willingly and with joy.

also i very much disagree with her being 'dumb'. she is not 'dumb', she is a child.

I have missed writing siblings???? So much???? I know a lot of people were attracted to Gravity Falls for the Mystery but I will always love siblings and writing siblings and I really missed writing sibling fluff.

I love the brother and sister relationship and I just wanted to thank you for creating this wonderful piece of work. The ages that everyone insists on are not canon! That is correct. Here’s the thing, okay, people have looked at these characters and gone “hey, they look this age so they must be this age” when it’s not true at all. The defense of these ages are so antis and all those little assholes feel Righteous about attacking other people.

In reality, there is no evidence, there is nothing supporting their claims that Pidge is a fourteen year old gremlin, that Lance and Hunk were sixteen, etc. Everyone just slapped an age on the characters and went “yeah okay that’s perfect” and accepted a wide-ranged accepted headcanon as canon.

No, no my dears, it’s fanon. Not real. The show doesn’t even state if Matt is Pidge’s older brother everyone has just assumed so and, well, we all know what happens when you “assume”. 

People who have accepted these “canon ages” have said that they’re not okay with pedophilia but are okay with child soldiers (because if Pidge is 14 then that’s what she is, same with Lance and Hunk if they were 16).

If you’re in the ML fandom, I’m currently writing a fic that explores things like consent and shitty stuff that happens in life because, I mean, it’s a coping mechanism and I’m going to write about the stuff that happened to me but I’m going to write characters I like exploring their way out of it.

Because, you know, if I can write them getting out of that maze, maybe I can get out of it too, you know? Maybe one day I’ll stop taking two showers a day, maybe I’ll only think about it every once in a while. But people write things to cope, too, and you can’t take that away from them.

Sometimes you just have to live your life the best you can and learn how to move on???? This policing culture on Tumblr is super gross and so unhelpful because all these kids are learning really shitty ass things that will get the shit beaten out of them when their older.
