im addicted to reading the zine (writers appreciation)
omg (it is 430am and i have no filter)
rq, hi it's ectdial, a writer for the mcsr zine
i don't know how these posts are usually done? but i'll just say words and hope they land in a somewhat correct order
in my first read through i was captivated by the piece Ave did for the S3 quarter/semis . the structure (format?) of the poem is the most unique and creative poem i've ever seen.
another similar structured one is fynn'sS4 quater/semis . both uses the most innovative and (in my opinion) one of the hardest technique to perfect i've ever seen. it encourages you to read it twice over and more. each time giving you a brand new experience and story. i was starstruck and in awe,
every piece of writing here is also art in such a pure form. everything in the zine isn't for some greater benefit, there's no monetary or reputational reward to gain from participating. it's just a community showing their love and appreciation for the game, even if they do not play it themselves .
just like art pieces, behind every word, every sentence, every paragraph is tens of do-overs, hundreds of hours thinking over every single word, and thousands of backspaces crafting every single word, comma, and full-stops.
( ↑ my brain is now officially kaput from making that sentence)
out of the 152 pages of zine, (aprox.) 102 (111 if you count credits also) pages are just filled with words, 42 total pieces of writing split between 15 writers, mode & median & average of 3 pieces per person, with a jaw-dropping 6 pieces from fynn (thank you fynn we say in unison), compared to (not putting them down im sorry if it appears this way) 26 pieces of artwork split between 23 people.
is there any way to show off the beautiful writings by artists more? or is it just unfortunate that it's a bit awkward to post writings rather than artwork on social media...
ultimately, thank you. to every writer who pushed through writer's block or burnout to complete this project or stayed up late at night, looking back at vods.
(p.s. this ending sounds incomplete catsigh, i ran out of words)
