Okay, so I used to ship Vanillatastic when I was young because they seemed like powercouple to me, who are super passionate about everything they do, leaving explosions in their wake, like 😎😎... and now I understand Turbo as a character a little better and it's even better 😔
So, let's start with the fact that they go from enemies to lovers, and Vanellope kicks his ass. And Turbo turns out to be a stupid old man who liked living in her pink candy castle too much 😭
"Two combo sets with Hello Kitty," Vanellope says here.
It's Turbo, isn't it? Constantly needs to compete, what a nasty man.
In any case, Vanellope doesn't give in (we don't talk much about the parallel between her act, which is called going Turbo, and the fact that she literally parallels the former villain 😭 it's like when Mabel started matching freak with Bill... I value the idea that Vanellope can be unexpectedly harsh at times. It's her business, her tastes, she likes hanging out with this clueless, smoke-addled gigolo who lived off her, she deserves more, but she likes the fact that he's as freaky as she is... although I still don't really like the second movie, we could have left it at the level of potential and jokes). What kind of traumas does Turbo have, he's just an old asshole and that's what makes him so funny the way he is. Vanellope might be traumatized by him too (I think this was even touched on in the second movie?), he got what he deserved, she won't comfort or soothe him, he'll teach her new curse words, and she'll buy him hello kitty combos. They enjoy being together, but Vanellope clearly won't stand on ceremony with him.
"Grandfather-freeloader. I don't want kids. I want grandchildren. I want little slackers to fuss around me while I teach them the wisdom of life, twirling my beard around my finger. And Anon, I figured out how to skip the dreadful period of having my own children and move straight to grandchildren! You have to become a hanger-on grandfather. To do this, you need to act cunningly and cautiously: sneak into an established family with grandchildren and a grandmother (and, preferably, a dead grandfather) and mimic the grandfather, imitating all his habits. The family (if it doesn't consist of the smartest people) might not detect the trick, and thus the successful hanger-on grandfather will profit in the form of grandchildren and grandmother! I'm looking for good tips on how to become a hanger-on, advice from the hangers-on who hang out here, and what pitfalls there might be. Thread, go!"
Literally Turbo 😭 he's a gigolo... he rewrote the pink castle to himself, joined this colorful crowd, he liked being the sugary, kind grandfather from the postcards... a huge, mischievous trickster. To some extent, you feel sorry for him because of his age, because he consists of two pixels and because his appearance frightens young people. And Vanellope is so beautiful, all colored, in high resolution, haha.
Okay, so what about the potential for their royal feud in a sinister medieval aesthetic? Or as partners in crime, in canon, in wires, or in human au? Two racers competing for first place, or just two unconventional students hanging out who knows where (and Vanellope has a more expensive motorcycle, and she’s so luxurious in her wildness). They really fight violently and make up violently. And Turbo really is just a stinking man, not some rich guy or aristocrat, really. He just wants it all, he's a gentleman of fortune, the ultimate straight couple in that Vanellope is better than him, but she chooses it herself, whether it's good or bad. She would also troll him, yeah.
Vanillatastic has a lot of potential, but this is just my silly post. It's worth mentioning, of course, that in my headcanons, Vanellope is older, lol. What matters to me is that she is slaying, not that she is in a dependent position (although they had that too).
↳ I support Vanillatastic's idea. But I look at it from a slightly different angle. We don't know what Turbo and Vanellope's relationship was like before the events of the film. It was hinted that Vanellope was banned from racing, even from being a member of the audience. She was an outcast. The king couldn't remove her because she was part of the system. At the end of the film, the king imprisons Vanellope for, say, sabotaging her participation in the race. Fine. If the king hates Vanellope and doesn't want to get rid of her, then why doesn't she sit in jail forever? Perhaps she "visits" it often; the king could imprison her for certain offenses. And then what? Let her go? Why? Turbo has a cruel, terrible personality; he had every right to never let her out of Fungeon or come up with something worse. Did he want to see how much she wanted to go to the race and how she always failed? Fine. But didn't he get tired of all this? Vanellope wasn't one to sit still. She probably thought of something new every day and was desperate to get on the track. For 15 years, her desire never faded. Perhaps this spark fueled Turbo. He probably deliberately gave her a certain amount of freedom to observe and gloat. I see their relationship as similar to Frollo's relationship with Esmeralda (when I first discovered this fandom, I immediately drew an analogy). In Wreck-It Ralph, King Candy holds total control over Vanellope's world and identity. He erases her past and keeps her marginalized. In The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Frollo has social and political power and tries to dominate Esmeralda's fate. Vanellope is told she's a glitch, an outcast who doesn't deserve to race.Esmeralda is treated as an outsider and "othered" because of who she is. Plus, I repeat, we don't know their real relationship before the events of the film (after all, this cartoon was intended for children). It's possible there was a one-sided relationship between Turbo and Vanellope. I'll explain why: Vanellope is a princess (even though she doesn't like it; by the way, the question is: why doesn't she like it? Maybe it was a tease from Turbo's lips after? According to the program, Vanellope was supposed to accept her status, like everyone else. Ralph didn't accept his role? Yes, but Ralph got tired of it. I don't think that in a few weeks or months (since Turbo captured her practically after connecting Sugar Rush) Vanellope got bored of being a princess. A princess is a status. Turbo loved status. He probably would have kept the princess by his side. Yes, they both have strong characters, they would have destroyed each other. But with the console in Turbo's hands, he could have pacified her. Why the one-sided attraction? The age difference, appearance and behavior were most likely unpleasant to Vanellope. And Turbo took the game. All of it and deprived her of everything. A rejected person is very dangerous.
