Lisette Ros sits on this chair for 8 hours without engaging in any human (inter)action, as a reference to 8-hour workdays in the Netherlands. The performance took place at ‘De Stelling van Amsterdam’, built as a part of Amsterdam’s defence line during the war. The invention of aeroplanes and tanks made the forts obsolete as soon as they were finished in 1920. 100 years later, empty office buildings due to the COVID pandemic bear a striking resemblance to these forts.
