This portrait, evocative-to-inspiring, when one recalls the later works of John Singer Sargent is somehow intriguing in that Gustave-Courtois, in full Gustave-Claude-Etienne Courtois (1852 - !923) painted this subject in 1883... The original rendition however, portrayed ... a lady... or a drag?
