Sam Wolfe Connelly’s “Anatomy of a Ruin.”

Currently on view at Roq La Rue in Seattle, Washington is artist Sam Wolfe Connelly’s masterful solo exhibition of charcoal drawings, “Anatomy of a Ruin.”

Connelly, who has taken a long break from the gallery world, imbues his work with grandiose, enigmatic mystery - specifically within the works for “Anatomy of a Ruin,” Connelly has presented visions of a mythic quality; narrative and loosely related by thin, dark threads the charcoal drawings begin to weave a web around the viewer, bringing delight and horror all at once.

The Severed Head of Medusa by artist Damien Hirst is made of a single piece of crystal glass that took three months to cool in an oven. This final product is the fifth attempt at molding the work from molten crystal; the first four cracked in the cooling process.
