People seeing Dreamnap interact online and thinking they’re bigger mers (because Sapnap always gets epic cool music when he swims around) and the sanctuary has to make a post showing how little Dreamnap are

Omg I love it, they get thousands of questions every day asking how big dnap are so eventually they make a short video (about 1 minute) introducing the pair with a handler holding dream to demonstrate their size.

After some playful nagging from Larray, George reluctantly allowed a fellow mer to give him a massage, it turns out he loves them.

Classical music

The sanctuary avoids playing radio classics as the bass and vibrations in some of the songs can irritate the inner ear and cause discomfort and disorientation among the mers. Their 'navigation software' ,as some people put it, can get scrambled by particularly powerful or loud vibrations like from a ships horn or heavy bass in a song. If severe enough the vibrations can rupture their inner ear and cause partial of total deafness for any amount of time, so instead of radio the office plays soft classical music instead. The visitors find enjoyment in it also.

I have an interesting question, do any of the mers have allergies or intolerances in some way?

That's a very good question, the main guys don't have any allergies but there are quite a few mers who do.

There's a clownfish mer who has a latex allergy, so when they're being taken for checkups they go to a latex free clinic instead of the normal ones. When exposed to latex the mer experiences a rash and swelling tongue, thankfully not anaphylaxis and can be treated with benadryl and overnight observation.

A black tip reef shark mer is allergic to bee venom, though never having been stung before. The mer had a run in with a reckless speedboat which resulted in some nasty but treatable injuries, which is lucky as it could've gone a lot worse. The mer started to react to the medication given for pain relief and soon went into anaphylaxis, toxicology reported that it was the hyaluronidase in the medication, the venom in bee stings is very similar to this enzyme so the body gets confused and starts an allergic reaction.

I think it’s funny how 2012 Raph always suspected that 2012 Donnie was up to some shenanigans whenever some sci-fi bullshit happened to them.

Home aquariums

It is legal to house mers in a private residence with the right permits, but it's incredibly expensive since even the smallest of mers need several gallons just for themselves let alone a shoal of them.

To ensure the mers are getting appropriate care a mer welfare officer performs annual random inspections, if any fault is found with the size of the tank, quality of the water or food the tank's owner is given two weeks to rectify to issue or face getting the mers taken from the residence.

If the mers are removed they are taken to a mer specialty clinic to check for illness or injury before they're taken to either a sanctuary or a temporary lodging to wait for new homes.

When talking about the tank dnap are in, Sapnap is often referred to as 'the spicy one' due to his attitude towards most handlers.
