About Whispered Lies
Whispered Lies is a WIP set in a dark fantasy world filled with lies, corruption and betrayal.
Summary:
You work for the crown family of Vernize, a prosperous and strong kingdom. Your daily life is filled with getting your tasks done and listening to the new rumors of your co-workers. Each day, there's a new rumor, and each day, they get wilder and wilder. But you can't blame them. The crown family is deceiving, and in the last years, the king and queen have become cruel and bloodthirsty. It's no wonder that there have been rebellious groups forming in the country, and even other kingdoms want to put an end to their reign.
So far, your own life has been normal though. But as the days go on, you're slowly getting tangled up in the mess of lies and secrets that surround the family.
And when you meet the newest group of rebels, everything changes. You start questioning yourself. What is it that you want?
- Play as male, female, nb, trans or genderfluid
- Fully customize your MC: gender, sexuality, backstory, personality, skills and more
- 5 ROs to choose from; romance, befriend or betray them! It's up to you
- Join the rebellion, become a spy for another kingdom or work by yourself to reach your goal
- Seize the crown for yourself or leave the castle behind
I’m always so nervous to sit down to write without a solid starting idea. I’m used to writing poetry or story fragments with a purposeful idea/concept/image in mind that I can work off of, its less easy to do that with a full length thing I feel
Really just about to make a deal with a demon so I'm capable of being at all productive (the deal involves the demon possessing me and outlining/writing/drawing/coding/etc everything related to my projects/games for me. I just provide the ideas. Like a ghostwriter, but in a more literal sense?), I have run out of options.
If I get at least one thing done in a day I’m a genius if I get two things done I’m a god
Late March Update <3
I have clearly had issues getting this project off the ground in terms of the story!!
I was really excited to write it when I first started out of course, and then comes the disappointing reality where I actually have to spend a long time fleshing it out haha. Like in any story.. I’m also in high school right now, and online school is so strange. A lot of the times it feels like the last thing I would want to do is open my laptop back up to work on yet another project. Not that I don’t love writing, it’s one of my main passions. I think like most writers I just have a very strange process, and it’s difficult to focus and do my best work at the moment!
I have long plot timelines, backstories, and a lot of a rough draft demo written, it’s just not my best and I want to keep refining until I’m proud of it. Thank you to those following this blog and sticking with me!!! Wishing you all well.
Figured I should re-introduce myself!
It’s been a while.
Hi! I’m Lucian and I use xe/xem/xyr pronouns. I’ve been an aspiring writer all my life, and it’s only fairly recently I’m trying to make that any sort of reality. I don’t have much experience with… anything, really, but I try my best within my limitations.
I’m working on two IF projects currently - We Are Not Saved and Singularity. We Are Not Saved is a character-driven mystery with some supernatural horror elements, set in rural Appalachia. It follows the MC as they try to solve their own murder and resurrection, and is centered around themes of trauma, recovery, and redemption. I started it in mid-October, briefly abandoned it in mid-November, and picked it up again in early January. Since then, I’ve been slowly chipping away at planning it! Singularity is… much less developed, but it’s a sci-fi set 300 years in the future on a far away planet, created mostly to give me something to work on when WANS is giving me trouble. Both games are most likely going to be made in Twine. I don’t have any estimated announcement or release dates, but, uh… within the year, hopefully? For WANS at least.
That’s it, I guess! Until either project is officially announced, I’ll be using this blog to ramble and complain about writing. Thank you all for following, and I hope you stick around!
Update!
I know it’s not really a big deal, since things are only getting started, but I apologize for no updates lately. I’ve had exams, and then started the new semester, it’s all thrown me off of writing in my free time for awhile. But hopefully now that things are calming down and I actually have a bit of space to breathe, I’ll be able to get more progress on Philoselene! I’m hoping to release something by the end of February.
‘Philoselene’ IF progress
I want to start off the new year with the first progress post on this blog, for the interactive novel Philoselene.
I’ll post an official synopsis and things once I have the demo out, but for now I’ll stick to updates. If you’re interested though, I have a short + unofficial description of my plans on the blog here as well :)
So far I’ve got most of my main story points down as well as a level of characterization for my main characters that I’m happy with. For the actual story and coding, I’ve got a lot of the exposition (ick) down and I’m currently reworking the prologue and creating a rough stats outline. Soon I should have all of the RO’s introductions done. I’m hoping end of February I’ll have the demo finished?
A question I do have is whether I should post an unfinished demo or not, and update it, or should I wait until it’s mostly complete ? I’ll have to make that decision soon.
