Here we have it!!! The top photo is the before and the bottom is the after. Clearly, it makes such a difference as the lighting looks waaaaaayy better in the bottom picture.Â
After lots of hard work and a long day of trial and error we finally found a way to create the perfect LED photo light for less than $20!
The perfect at home solution to a common, hi-tech and expensive tool.

An idea we had in order to enhance our LED photoshoot light was to add coloured paper to create various filters. As we tested out the paper, we noticed that it did not make a huge impact on the way the photo turned out.
Due to the fact that the filter was not as effective as we initially thought we decided to not incorporate it into the LED photoshoot light
Update...everything is attached and has come together. Let’s hope this works when we try and take our selfie.
Hey guys! We are back and almost done building our LED photoshoot light. We are currently using the hot glue gun to glue the two trapezoid shaped sides to the base in order to create the shaped of the photoshoot light.
We have glued the reflective metallic paper to the cardboard and so far everything is going smoothly.Â
We are currently in the process of building our LED photo light. We have come up with a base out of cardboard. To begin, we sketched out what we wanted it to look like. The base is essentially shaped as a square and the sides are shaped as trapezoids which we connected to the base. Within the base we made a circular cut out in order to fit the LED light through. I know this may sound confusing; however, if you look at the photos attached hopefully you are able to get the picture.
If all goes well with the base of the light, we will line the inside of the structure with the reflective metallic paper in order to provide for excellent photo lighting. Once we hot glue the metallic paper to the cardboard we will update you! Talk to you guys soon.
Ok!!! We have had a little bit of time to brainstorm and have finally come up with a way to create an awesome LED photo light. We will be using cardboard, a circular LED light, reflecting metallic paper, scissors, tape, X-acto knives, a hot glue gun,and sharpies. With these easily accessible tools, you will be able to create the best-LED light for taking professional photos.Â
Initially, we were going to use tin- foil; however, as we began testing out options we noticed that the reflecting metallic paper provided much better results in terms of photo quality.Â
When presented with this project our group struggled to come up with a creative way to recreate a multimedia tool for under $20. We began brainstorming ideas and thinking of multimedia tools that we would find beneficial. Our initial idea was to create a waterproof pouch to put your phone in. After more thought and discussion we came to the conclusion that this idea would be difficult to test without risking the safety of our phones as there was no guarantee that water would stay out.
Back to the drawing board… After more brainstorming, the multimedia tool that we decided to create was an LED photoshoot light. How many times have you ever tried taking a photo and realized the lighting was not on point? This has happened to us many times, which is why we wanted to find a solution to this problem! Now on to brainstorming the different materials that we will use to create this. Stay tuned to see what we come up with.
