Elohim’s “Pigments”, the most recent release from the Los Angeles-based artist, adds another emotive piece to her already varied collection. Known for her refusal to reveal her face (choosing to wear animal masks and disguising her voice in interviews), Elohim lets her music speak for itself. And speak for itself it does: “Pigments” continues to build on her enigmatic persona, imbued with perceptive lyrics that juxtapose desires and needs, fantasy and reality. Even with the synthetic heartbeat undertones and a little melodic ditty, Elohim’s airy voice suspends us in a wavering stillness, oscillating between anxiety and serenity.
