Nickname Szanto is a film about Therese Szanto

Nickname Szanto is a film about Therese Szanto, one of the world’s top female e-Sport players. The film follows Therese on her journey from the family farm in Hålanda outside Gothenburg to the e-Sport centre Dreamhack.

The aim of our graduation piece is to persuade people to take e-Sport more seriously and to balance the male domination of the sport. We believe it is important, therefore, to highlight women role models who can inspire and encourage more girls to take part in e-Sport, which is now a rapidly-growing multi-million dollar industry.

e-Sport* is the world’s fastest-growing sport, with millions of fans and participants all over the world. In 2017, e-Sport is estimated to be bigger than American football, and it has already surpassed ice hockey. Sweden is ranked as one of the top five nations in e-Sport. Despite this, only 10% of the players are female.

*e-Sport, electronic sport, competitive activities centred on computer games.

Snart har GYMPALÄRAREN premiär på SVT1. Det är en dokumentärserie som jag jobbat med hela hösten.

Kalle Zackari Wahlström vill få skolungdomar att röra på sig mer. I nya serien Gympaläraren återvänder han till sin gamla högstadieskola för att peppa eleverna både på och utanför gympalektionerna. En utmaning som visar sig bli det svåraste han någonsin gjort.

Gympaläraren har premiär tisdag 8 mars 20.00 i SVT1 och SVT Play!
