(I had a bit of writers block. anyway, part four of an alternate universe where Vito ends up in the world of @unreadgorgon575 's comic Sonic Shattered)
The Yolkomotive pulled back into New Yoke city and up to a special entrance designated for it. Vito glanced out the window, Sunny was already marching off and Poacher was in charge of dealing with Nightshade and her subjects.
Vito was half surprised he had been left to his own devices. He shrugged and walked into the Yoke where he had been before. The older man was still there. By process of elimination, he had to be Boiler.
“Hello again. You’re Boiler, right?” Vito offered a small smile.
“Ah yes- You don’t have to call me that. It’s just a code name. Call me ‘Hudson’.” Boiler held his hands together and looked hopefully to Vito.
“Alright, Hudson.” Vito took a deep breath and took off his sunglasses, “After watching Sunny for a bit I’ve grown a bit concerned. I know I’m a stranger, but I feel as if I know you all and I am inclined to help if I need to. Something just seems off–”
Sunny walked in and the conversation came to a halt. Vito waved but Sunny ignored him and went straight to working.
“Sunny. You’ve been working yourself to death lately. Take a break.” Boiler worriedly approached him.
“His eminence gave me an order, sir. I intend to follow it.” Sunny furrowed his brow. For once it was very clear to Vito how Sunny was feeling despite how much he tried to hide it. He was upset, scared even.
“You don’t need to call me sir, we aren’t a business." Boiler stepped slightly closer, his brows slanting upward to display his dismay towards the situation at hand.
Sunny halted for a moment before dryly responding, “His eminence gave me an order.”
“Ok. I’m sick of this guy and I haven’t even met him yet. You’re clearly overworking yourself and need a break. I’m sure after hearing some proper reasoning; you will be allowed to relax.” Vito’s voice was ominous. The threat of whatever Vito considered ‘proper reasoning’ lingered in the air.
“Don’t.” Sunny sternly responded. Vito trying anything would end up becoming more trouble, at least that’s what Sunny thought
“I just want to talk to him.” Vito put his hands behind his back and adjusted his posture. He was strangely menacing now; far different from the more soft and kind version of himself he had been displaying.
The doors slid open. Devil walked in alongside a man whose appearance startled Vito. He didn’t react outwardly but his thoughts raced, ‘He looks like Ivo. Except with a wig. And a less impressive mustache. Wait- Is that a cigar? He’s smoking around children??”
“Whose this old guy?” Devil asked and pointed a thumb to Boiler.
Mr. Dr. Eggman cut Boiler off before he respond, “a temporary ally and this must be our other temporary ally.” He looked Vito up and down.
Vito raised an eyebrow, “How about you stop sizing me up and introduce yourself? That would be the polite thing to do after all.”
“Ah, yes. You aren’t familiar with the council. I am Mr. Dr. Eggman.” He blew a bit of smoke out.
Vito’s nose twitched slightly. The smell of the cigar was strong and began to give him a headache. He grimaced, “Could you not blow smoke near me? Also, why do you need to use two titles? It’s a bit redundant if you ask me.” His brow furrowed. From what Devil told him and what he had seen on security footage Vito was gentle and kind. Someone he thought would have been easy for him to push around. How he was acting now definitely wasn’t how he was acting earlier. Mr. Dr. Eggman didn’t grace Vito with responding to his questions and walked over to Sunny, “How’s the triangulation coming?”
“Sufficiently.” Sunny responded in a more robotic and monotone manner.
“Keep it up.” Mr. Dr. Eggman blew smoke into Sunny’s face.
Vito could feel himself start to fill with a quiet rage. He tapped his foot as he slightly calculated his next course of action.
Mr. Dr. Eggman moved onto Boiler, “They’re in good hands. You trusted me for the past ten years. You can trust me now.”
‘Ten years? That must be why Devil doesn’t know Hudson. What was he even doing for ten years?’ Vito thought to himself.
Smoke was blown in his general direction and it made his eyelid twitch. His anger became a bit harder to control, “Blow smoke in my general direction again and something will end up broken.”
“Well, isn't someone not as soft spoken as he seems.” Mr. Dr. Eggman retorted.
“Actually the gentleness is more out of character for me. I reserve my kindness for people who deserve it.” Vito adjusted his glasses and flashed a fake smile.
Mr. Dr. Eggman angrily stared down at him. He was gonna respond but was interrupted by Poacher entering the room, “Ugh, these new denizens are so medieval! I had to explain to one of them what a tablet was-” He stopped and looked between Vito and Mr. Dr. Eggman then looked at Sunny, “Are they fighting-?”
“Yes.” sighed Sunny. He turned to Mr. Dr. Eggman, “I’ve located something, your eminence. Another world.”
