Welp, my blog isn’t showing up on tumblr anymore.
I guess the shadowban on nsfw creators that some people are talking about is real, or at least it is for me, at the moment of making this post.
Anyway, besides my Twitter, I also made a Newgrounds account, where I am gonna post some of my fav pieces from the past, and every drawing I make after that. (upload limit is 10 images per day, so it will take me a few days to be done with the old stuff).
Tumblr will continue to work as another one of my galleries, but only due to respect towards the people who have supported me ever since I first started as a nsfw artist (until a “glitch” kicks me out).
The site itself has disappointed me, when I didn’t even have that many expectations to begin with.
It clearly wishes to only cater to kids and teens, while creators that focus on adult material seem to be pushed aside.
While our job isn’t exactly something to bring up during family dinner, and many will argue that it comes off as tasteless most of the time, it is still a form of artwork. We just choose to depict a subject that is more intimate than the norm. Suddenly, handmade erotic illustrations were made to be one and the same with tacky hardcore porn bots that link viruses. And I for one, find this extremely disheartening. If I was more confident about my shitty drawings, I could even call it insulting.
I always followed the guidelines, I had my blog behind the safemode wall, I tagged all my pieces with the mandatory nsfw warning. Even the sfw drawings where hidden to prevent anyone from coming across my blog by accident unless they knew what they were looking for.
And yet, I got shadowbanned. Like many others who did the same as me and played by the rules tumblr set for us.
Call me whiny all you want, but the risk of losing a community you have been building for months in the blink of an eye is a pretty good reason to bring this kind of thing into people’s attention.
If you want someone who always puts on a fake smile, I aint the artist to follow.
And no, I am not interested in any excuses tumblr comes up with about the subject, even though so far, all we got was the silent treatment.
I will continue to provide art for my 40k followers (and bots that the tumblr algorithm was supposed to purge), but my interest on the site and my blog has deminished greatly.
Sorry to all the artists whose accounts were terminated and weren’t reclaimed.
I hope you dont lose heart in making art, and your income is not affected.
