A long, long time ago Wilford went by another name, I'd even go so far as to say he was human, but after a terrible night with some old friends, he's slid down an ever winding past pulled through tragedy after tragedy.
After days alone, or maybe it was decades, Wilford reunited with his old friend Dark. True he could never quite place the old man's face or where he had seen it before but he knew that was a face he could trust.
Since that day, Wilford has never been far from Dark's side, the pair of them weathering monsters, and humans, and police, and murder to survive it all despite what everyone else always promise.
As time has passed and their family has grown, while still experiencing many 'crazy' moments, Wilford spends much of his time perfectly sane and lucid. Just because it looks like madness to everyone around him doesn't men there isn't method in it.
Within the building, Wilford has a fully functioning TV studio set up where he will film, almost daily, some new show. Game show, documentary, tella novela, whatever it is that takes his fancy. None of the others know where it's airing or who's watching but none of them doubts that Wilford is playing to some kind of audience. It would just be weird if he wasn't.
Wilford may have magic but he never really uses it consciously, and rarely beyond controlling his studio, or accessing his void. You can identify its use from a cozy warmth and strong sugary smell.
