ofxlogan:
piper’s off on another tangent like a bullet train leaving the station. she’s talking about gut feelings and interrogations before logan can gather his own thoughts, and it made him laugh a little despite the gravity of their problem. “i ain’t know about all that.” he chuckled dryly, but followed her up regardless.
he was getting sick of being in that motel room anyway. right now, posting up on the hood of the van and smoking a cig or two sounded a lot better than anything else they could’ve done.
“i’m sure adrian’s figuring somethin’ out.” he said. “or prolly leah.” almost definitely leah. between the two of them, trip didn’t stand a chance if he actually was lying about something. he would hate to see them leave the guy in the dust, but if that’s what needed to be done… if he actually had been the one who’d taken his rabbit foot, then logan could make his peace with it.
he fished his own tobacco tin out of his pocket, rolling the cool metal in his fingers, holding it up for piper to see. “we could both prolly use the fresh air. c’mon.”
piper pouts as logan laughs at her, taking that as definite lack of enthusiasm for her solid plan if you ask her. in her experience a good old interrogation generally worked. men tended to crack under pressure, and yes she knows this from experience.
but as logan gets to his feet and offers some fairly... reasonable input, she’ll admit, piper can only sigh. he was right. leah and adrian were probably planning something, something good, and really, the smart thing to do was leave them to it and wait for their go ahead to do anything.
which meant if piper had any plans of grilling trip herself, she was going to have to do it without logan. less than ideal, but doable. she’ll find the time to corner the guy at some point when no one was looking.
but for now she gives into logan with a easy, “fine. no good cop, bad cop interrogation, but i want you to know that you’re no fun.” piper sulks until logan pulls out the tobacco tin, her expression softening for a moment before she’s meeting his eyes and smiling as she allows. “...okay, i take it all back, you are the most fun. let’s go.”
with that piper moves to lead the way, lacking some of the usual pep in her step as she toes her way through the chaos of their motel room, but looking forward to a change of scenery. maybe being away from the crime scene really might make her feel better. as she approaches their van she can perks up just a bit as she says, “at least we still have sadie!”
