In case anyone ever wondered what its like working on comics with a four year old around
Moe! Moe! Angst Ftaghn! (the Living Flame is unhappy...)
I just had to make a Cuthuko version of Vaz's Angsthulu tshirt/comic... I still think that "Haiyore! Nyaruko-san" is mis-titled. It should have been called "Ganbatte! Cuthu-ko"
(if you are completely lost here... Haiyore! Nyaruko-san is an anime with characters based on HP Lovecraft's Cuthulu mythos. Cuthu-ko is, um, Cuthulu.) <--see note**
Anyways... back to sanity, maybe.
** it has been pointed out to me that Cuthuko is actually supposed to be Cuthuga NOT Cuthulu. Cuthuga is another entity in the Cuthlu mythos, but not one I am familiar with because it doesn't come from Lovecraft's work (tho the author was closely connected to him) and is just part of the extended mythos. Silly me. That said, given the odd tractibility of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san i'll take fanart license here and go with the Angst of Cuthuga being just as amusing as the angst of Cuthulu itself.)
*** Oh, and for the record, here's the original illustration by Vaz that this is a spoof of.
pingOS tshirt - printed a few of these do Anime Central this weekend :)
FInished printing both Black and Blue versions of the new Nekomimi Miho t-shirt for Anime Central this weekend. If you're going to Acen, Be sure to stop by our booth (we'll be right next to the COPIC marker booth) to pick one up :) For the rest of you, no worries - you can order your very own Black or Blue NekoMimi Miho "Ph33r t3h D4rkly *nya~n*" t-shirt from the MegaGear store!
Blue Nekomimi Miho t-shirt
Black Nekomimi Miho t-shirt
Also be sure to check out the Pirogoeth, Miho and Junpei chainmail bracelets, which are now back in stock. Nyow.
And that pretty much is nekomimi miho ph34 t3h cut3 *ゴロゴロゴロゴロ* colorwurks - done. :)
ph34 t3h cut3 *ゴロゴロゴロゴロ* nekominimiho, linework done. :)
y'know... it really is odd when your day job can involve naming a Photoshop layer 'kitty ear fluff'
ph34 t3h cut3 *ゴロゴロゴロゴロ*
work in progress - chibi nekomimimiho nyan, art idea for a tshirt and other sundries. I'll have them at Anime Central. :)
Oh, and FTR, it irritates me when art types treat the tails on kemonomimi like they are just stuck on with duct tape on the back just above their posteriors... come on, look at your cat or dog. Tails are an extension of the spine. If you are going to draw them as if the tails are real, please stop drawing them glued to their lower backs ABOVE the belt line? draw it right. (this should help you understand why she's wearing that too-large skirt Erika gave her here... skirts like this are not well suited to tails. just sayin. Oh, and yes, that is a binder clip at the end of her tail keeping the ribbon in place.)
Happy Darkly Cute Day! [Wednesday - March 28, 2012] - it was March 28th, 2001 that Tohya Miho made her first appearance in Megatokyo. So... Happy Darkly Cute day! Want to show your observance of the darkly cute one? Lots of Miho-themed shirts in the MT store to proclaim your worship and adoration. :)
Hawk! dude! Pixel Fights? It's dangerous to fight alone! Take this:
Like i said, i wont share the final version of this when it's done, but here's a look at what the colored version is looking like. It's getting there, not looking too bad. There are a lot of things about this that DON'T work, but overall it's not too bad of an image, and is at least somewhat dynamic. I had great difficulty avoiding doing this as the 'OHAYO!' version, which involves a toothbrush and a cup of coffee and morning bleary eyes...
A work in progress screencap of the illustration i've been working on for the Anime Angels artbook, a (possibly?) fanciful scene from unMod with the wingless (but magical-girl flight-like leaping ability) Yuki is showing the angel-wing Fet-modded and flightless Piroko how to 'fly'. [Fet-mods == Fetish mods; read the unMod Omake to understand why Piroko has a set] I won't be posting the finished image online for a while - not until after the book comes out, but i'll share enough of these that you'll get a sense of it. Need to have it colored by the 28th, which is coming up fast...
A friend of mine toyed around with that Piroko Angel NyanNyan chibi image i did a while ago, and the lines actually came out looking really good - i swapped out my original linework for the cleaned up vector lines, tweaked the color a bit and... she looks pretty good :) (here's a 300 dpi high res version if you want to make wallpapers or whatnot). Thanks Maarkov!
I'm looking at making iphone cases - the samples seem pretty decent. Just toying with a few ideas... (these products are not available yet, but let me know if they might be of interest)
Here are the three sprites i made yesterday - didn't come out too bad. These are for a new shirt design i should have up later today :)
A development sketch from something i'm working on. Pencil on Canson Mix Media paper (98 lb), with some tweaking and shading in photoshop. Just kind of a nice sketch, so i'm posting it. Oh, the cat ears? that's... well, if i ever get to doing the story for this properly, it'd make sense.
