ilove when someone posts about an issue that's supposedly plaguing society and it's painfully obvious that said issue is not a thing that matters if youre not on tiktok
reminds me of this reddit comment I have saved
You know, Newsom prolly would find your kink sick and would probably want to institutionalize you. Pray youâre never homeless in California.
I was wrong to call it for Newsom and Iâm not going to delete my blog or kms because I was wrong on the internet. Iâm obviously not from California and not attuned to California politics.
Iâm still just trying to say that in order to accomplish something you might have to work together with people you disagree with because you canât do it without them and they wonât want to help you if you sneer at them every time they try to engage with you
get your fat daddy to buy you some books before you talk out of your ass again
Itâs easy to be flippant and dismissive on the internet, but this is the kind of sneering thatâs the exact problem
Itâs hard for us to live together but we donât have any other choice
Copyright class actions could financially ruin AI industry, trade groups say.
AI industry groups are urging an appeals court to block what they say is the largest copyright class action ever certified. Theyâve warned that a single lawsuit raised by three authors over Anthropicâs AI training now threatens to âfinancially ruinâ the entire AI industry if up to 7 million claimants end up joining the litigation and forcing a settlement.

âElectoralismâ doesnât work⊠okay. What are you proposing instead, keyboard warriors? I agree with every argument about how corrupt it is because itâs ultimately a class war. Are you talking about a violent revolution? Whoâs with you? Are you organized? Be for real.
Iâm not saying give up on trans rights or any other fucking thing you make up about me, but what are you actually going to do? Itâs magical thinking if you think youâre going to transform American democracy and political discourse in less than 2 years. Conservatives have been playing the long game since Reagan and theyâve been beating us. We need to play a longer game and play better than them before itâs too late. It doesnât help us for anybody to dig in their heels. We need to work together. Thatâs all Iâm saying.
Republicans have been "playing the long game" by consistently demanding the exact kind of ideological purity you demand leftists surrender.
Do you think a republican could *ever* get elected while espousing pro-choice views? Or supporting Trans kids playing sports? Or raising the minimum wage? Or would their base label them a liberal RINO and feed them to the wolves?
This commitment to purity is why they've consistently succeeded in pushing their ideological project forward despite losing about half their elections. They'd rather lose an election and be mad for a few years than give an inch on their ideological priorities, and that lets them inch inexorably toward their goals. That's what them "playing the long game" means.
And the fact that democrats refuse to even articulate or commit to an ideological project, constantly cave to republican rhetoric, and focus mostly on disciplining their base into voting for them anyway is why they're consistently in retreat despite, on paper, representing a firm majority of voters.
If you want to "play the long game" like they do, you need a better strategy than "the person with a D in front of their name has to never lose an election forever".
If anyone was paying attention theyâd see that Iâm advocating for voting D because not literally every single one of them is trying to legislate us out of existence and has been for my whole life, and only as a stop gap so that we can get ranked choice voting and eliminate the electoral college, not âthe person with a D in front of their name has to never lose an election foreverâ. But again itâs my bad for posting an unpopular opinion on tumblr and expecting a nuanced discussion and not getting called a nazi
Okay cool. Explain to me why a member of either party would ever allow you to institute a voting system whose stated purpose is to reduce their own power and remove the two-party duopoly, unless you have an extreme degree of leverage over them?
And if you want to have that leverage, might it behoove you to understand how conservative interest groups secured theirs? Should it worry you that it was by solidly refusing to do the exact thing you're advocating?
Please share with the class how you suggest we proceed
If we're only considering electoral solutions? Again, look at what conservatives did. Make it clear to your politicians that you'd rather let them lose than help vote in someone who crosses your ideological red lines. Maybe actually have some ideological red lines. And then follow through.
What you definitely shouldn't do, and this is important, is start signaling an entire election cycle ahead of time that you'll support any blue candidate no matter how vile and therefore no one in power has to care about what you want or believe. It's a really bad idea to do that one.
Fair enough and finally a valid argument. Iâm gonna pack it in

Apparently saying that leftists should stop being exclusionary and build a larger coalition in order to accomplish their goals makes me a nazi

Just say you hate trans folks and GO for god sakes we get it youâd vote Hitler if he promised brunch and wore a blue hat.
Youâre the one who canât stop checking up on me babe

Iâm making a logical and practical argument not a moral one
Yeah, you were BLANTENTLY transmysoginist putting your âhotâ take on her post. Telling her she needs to let democrats take away her rights, thats extremely fucked up.
I doubt you care though. If democrats are going to be the same as republicans in your eyes, rip off the band aid, just be conservative lmao. You want to be so bad! You can stop caring about people who arent you that way :)
Disregarding the words that you put in my mouth, if you think Iâm a conservative because I think you should vote democrat in the next two major elections while also pushing for ranked choice voting so you donât have to make this shitty binary choice in the future, thatâs the whole problem that Iâm talking about and weâre all fucked
Some of you seem to think that I should feel bad or change my mind. If I did anything wrong it was putting my hot take on a trans womanâs post, and maybe giving it to Newsom too early, so sorry about that. I stand by everything else I said.
kim don jon are you serious? "how can i make american politics about those Evil Asians instead?"
what has all this offense at perceived slights gotten you (everyone in my asks)? Sometimes you have to choose between having a problem and doing something about it. Donât yell at me for giving a reasonable read of where the American electorate is at and offering a path forward
im pooping and farding egeegiously
I too could scroll through your blog and find every last embarrassing thing about you or that you havenât posted about the issue du jour in the last six months. Shame! Shame on me for not using this tiny no followers tumblr account constantly to change American culture for the better
