She's not the head... I've got thoughts about that but I'm not writing them out tonight.
Anyway, Hayabusa is at the meeting so I called that wrong. But I'm still wary of how much Mimizuku is hanging around. Genuinely, who is guarding Aoi right now?

Thoughts/Predictions for the Next Shinobi Chapter(s)
For a simple start, Hayabusa name-dropped a 'Nazumi' family way back when, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're among the distinguished families. Nothing else to go on except that they're apparently preoccupied with ninja bloodlines.
Next, the Kamuro family. Who's the current head? Is it Mukudori or someone else? Either answer is likely to be ~enlightening~ (I was going to go on a tangent here but my thoughts on Mukudori and the Kamuro family could be its own post. I'll wait and see who shows up at the meeting first)
And then Hayabusa. Even though it's been all but explicitly spelled out that he's from a distinguished family, I'm... not really expecting to see him. At the meeting, at any rate. Maybe we'll see him elsewhere? I have a sneaking suspicion he might be guarding Aoi right now...
Lastly, for a bit of complete speculation, what are the odds Suzume's family could be there? I don't even know if I'd want them to be. As much as I'm curious about her background, that is not a can of worms I want opened right now. The cultural festival and Yodaka's birthday first, please!
Chapter 3 vs chapter 83
Puberty was not done with this boy!
I am so sorry for this low-hanging fruit but it was right there...
Ok, I've finished crying and I've decided to stock up on copium.
Calling it now: The report is lying, Yoichi's alive.
Objectively speaking, Chun has done nothing wrong.
Words and attitude are one thing but he's done nothing wrong.
Sounds like the Phantom Thief Academy is coming up in the newest Kaitou Shounen Jokers, so uniform time! I have no idea if J’s been there yet but it would not surprise me in the slightest if he has.
Also, I thought Joker looked too angry in the previous pic so now he’s just being tsundere, instead. Looks better.
#sighhh (nostalgia)#ps i remember your art#kaitou joker#kaitou shounen jokers#your jokerqueen vision was so advanced
Well, you made my day! Boy do I miss when I used to just draw whatever Kaitou Joker nonsense I came up with on a given day. What a hole was left in my heart when Kaitou Shounen Jokers failed to thrive (but it also just... wasn't as good...)
These days, that hole's finally being filled by Shinobi Undercover. Definite recommend if you want another silly series with unexpectedly deep and heartfelt characters!
Things Yoichi is allowed to do:
Survive and go to the culture festival at Yodaka's school
Be dragged off and experimented on by the fugitives
Things Yoichi is not allowed to do:
Die
It's been rough for newbies in Jump since Shinobi Undercover debuted...
I got pondering what Yoichi might look like cleaned up. Didn't want to chop off all his hair
I choose to believe Suzume is just Extremely Hungover right now. Please do not ask her to be vertical she cannot
Yesterday, I didn't know what to think about the mud monster. After sleeping on it, I think it's a visual metaphor of how the Uzen ideology has consumed Yoichi and now his fellow victims are going to free him from it.
Since Black Mud seems to uniquely be a living kekkai, that should mean it can also uniquely be destroyed. Yoichi might just wind up 'normal' whether he wants to be or not.
Man, Shinobi Undercover is proving itself to be such a fascinating beast. I was not expecting the silly action comedy about a nervous ninja bodyguarding a klutz to be a front for exploring abuse, mental illness, and how to heal through genuine connection.
At this point, it's clear those elements aren't an accident nor just an attempt to spice things up.
They are foundational themes.
And it's doing it while staunchly remaining an action comedy.
There is a whole lot I could say about chapter 77 of Shinobi Undercover but I think the main upshot is that Yodaka seems to have Dissociative Identity Disorder? At least to some degree? The entire chapter makes complete sense with that assumption.
Given the little we've seen of his backstory, it's not unreasonable that he could've developed it. What's nice is that he was able to process it positively on his own this time.
transcript:
100 chapters down the line Yodaka finally meets OP in person Yodaka: OP-san... OP: Not quite what you were expecting, huh? Yodaka: Your head isn't a communicator... OP: You thought I looked like a communicator?!
