The Ultimate Enemy: Is it really just Dark Danny?

Yeah, it’s about this guy.

Now don’t get me wrong. I, like much of the Phandom, think that Dan is one of the best characters created by the show. I love his complex character, his backstory, he’s hella evil and let’s not forget that oh so sexy Vin Diesel-esque voice.

The only thing that kind of bothers me is how he’s only an evil version of Danny, when his backstory says otherwise. Warning, spoiler alerts for those who haven’t watched the ultimate enemy!   

                                       THE ORIGINS OF DARK DANNY

Danny finds answers for the C.A.T and cheats on his test. Lancer finds out and calls his family to the Nasty Burger for a meeting. Sam and Tucker tag along. The Nasty Burger explodes and everyone dies except for Danny. He descends into grief and goes to, quoting Danny, ‘the only person who would be able to understand his pain.’ [That is, Vlad Masters]

Danny’s emotionally unstable; he just lost his family and his best friends and he doesn’t have anyone to relate to. At that point he’s just numb and he probably feels like he’s died a little bit more. So off he goes to Masters, the closest person to his family and the only other halfa in the world [or so we’re shown].

The pain is just too much for poor Danny and he asks Vlad to help him get rid of his ghost half because if it weren’t for his powers, he wouldn’t have gotten the answers to the CAT. Vlad obliges.

He rips out Danny’s ghost half, who happens to be malevolent and vicious and violent. Bottom line, he’s pissed and uses the ghost gauntlets to rip out Vlad’s ghost half and proceeds to merge with it.

Now this is where it gets kinda interesting. Dark Danny is a fusion of Phantom and Plasmius, yet he’s only referred to as Dan Phantom. Why? Fifty percent of Dark Danny constitutes of Plasmius. If anything, he’s a new person...er, ghost.

This guy is also Vlad’s evil future ghost self.

Chronologically, he’s ten years old but (biologically)? he should be thirty because Vlad’s ghost half was created in 1984. Dark Danny could possibly retain memories concerning his previous ghost half lives (as Plasmius and Phantom) but they’d be extremely faint and wouldn’t bring much emotion because he’s a violent ghost with no feelings whatsoever.

But then again, it could be countered with this: Phantom was the one who took over Plasmius and thus it’s Dark Danny. The show states that when Danny merged with Vlad’s ghost half, the evil inside Plasmius overwhelmed Phantom. Wasn’t Danny already evil when he tried to rip out Plasmius, and can evil really be passed down as a genetic thing?

In this picture of Dan Plasmius, on first glance you can kind of tell that yeah, this guy’s some sort of alternative Danny Phantom. Yet if you look closesly, he still has that pale blue skin, red eyes and not to mention, powers that Vlad possesses (e.g. duplication).

Conclusion: I’m going to call him Dan Plasmius, because it is a more fitting name, given his origins. However, to justify what the show said, one can say that he’s Phantom who overshadowed and overtook Plasmius and thus, his appearance. It could also be because human Vlad is alive in the show [how he survived and not Danny is another big mystery]. Bottom line, this is evil Phantom + Plasmius.

Really quick Danny Phantom theory I just thought of

So a lot of people think, “how does no one know Danny Phantom and Danny Fenton are the same person?? They look and act exactly the same!!” It was really obvious to me as a child, but as I grew up, I realized that a person with the ability to turn into a ghost was a really unique concept. I mean, how exactly would people think of it if they hadn’t known about the portal story? So, that made me realize something.

What if Jack and Maddie Fenton were aware that Danny Phantom looked just like their son? They were aware, but they had no way of knowing that anyone could actually transform into ghosts at will, so it had never occurred to them that the ghost was actually their super-powered son.

What if they thought that this ghost was taunting them, taking this form to imply that their son was going to die?

I can see why they’d hate that ghost in particular.

Badger Cereal: Why Vlad could be Danny’s biological father...

I’m part of the small but (growing)? base of fans who headcannon that Vlad could be Danny’s biological father. Now, I’ve watched almost every single episode concerning Vlad and I’ve gone on a rewatching binge to observe his general behaviour towards Danny.

In Bitter Reunions, Vlad seems to take more interest in Danny rather than Jazz. This could probably be because Danny is a halfa, or Vlad had noticed that Jack Fenton’s son didn’t look much like him.

Vlad’s younger self does seem to resemble Danny quite a bit as opposed to Jack’s; both of them have a lean build, similar eye colour and Danny has a mix of both Vlad and Maddie’s facial structure. Jack has more greyish-blue eyes, unlike Vlad’s.

Vlad’s insistence to make Daniel join his side/display similar behavioural attributes e.g. powers to be used for gain, blackmailing, shaping him into a mastermind.

                                           MATERNAL INSTINCTS

‘Maddie, you must be exhausted...carrying the weight of that mistake you made all those years ago.’

I’d like to think that this line has a hidden meaning to it. It could be referencing to Maddie’s marriage to Jack as well as subtly implying that Maddie may have slept with Vlad fourteen years ago. The reasons, you may ask?

Jack is known to forget their wedding anniversary frequently. I assume that Jack and Maddie married young- straight out of college. Work would have been stressing them as well as the fact that they had a two year old daughter on their hands (Jazz). Maddie, feeling the stress of being a first time, young mother and Jack forgetting their anniversary may have caused her to find solace in her old college mate. She’s sobbing her heart out and one thing lead to another and before you know it, they’ve slept with each other.

Maddie is shown to have the capability to love Vlad to some extent, as shown in Masters of all Time but her heart will always belong to Jack. Still, one night of hurt, anger and betrayal could have lead to conceiving Danny. The night they slept together could have further emphasised Vlad’s love and obsession with Maddie.

On a side note, it could also lead to another headcannon; Danny’s always had his ghost powers because he’s Vlad’s biological child and the accident could have just activated them as Vlad and Danny’s accidents were both totally different.
