Plague and Creatures Creation Lore (Revised)
Millions of years ago, a cosmic being found a young solar system and took an affinity to it. It was one of the few in the galaxy with a planet capable of hosting complex life and organisms, so they took it upon themself to protect and nurture it. As life began to form on the planet, the being created someone to help watch over and guide the precious life, providing for it.
She goes by many names, but most know here as Gaia. With her creation came Azathoth, as with every force there needs to be an equal and opposite. While Gaia embodied life, charity, order, Azathoth embodied death, wrath, and chaos.
The cosmic guardian left Earth in their hands while they focused on protecting the solar system.
Both created life and beings of their respective natures, and both worked in harmony to create a balanced world as life continued to develop. Gaia created the Heavens and the gods, Virtues, higher beings, and angels that occupy them and tend to the earth. Azathoth created the Hells and the devils, Sins, beings of destruction, and demons that occupy them and plagued the earth.
As Gaia became revered and loved by the beings on earth, while Azathoth became feared and spoken little of, Azathoth grew bitter.
Out of jealousy and anger, he created two heirs that would carry out his wrath. Satan, the first of the two to be created, and he was to rule all the hells and lead the 7 Sins. Beelzebub was the second created, and she was to lead command the legions and punish life on earth for their disrespect of Azathoth.
This left Gaia with no choice but to create her own beings to protect the lives she cherished from Azathoth’s wrath. Lucifer was the first created, and was to lead the heavens and Virtues, while Vehuiah was created to lead the legions that protected life.
War broke out and lasted hundreds of years, until finally, Lucifer and Vehuiah were able to defeat and imprison Satan and Beelzebub in a pit in the bottom of hell. That wasn’t the end of it, though. Angered by the failure of his heirs, Azathoth attacked Gaia, resulting in both being fatally wounded.
The wound Gaia received from Azathoth was infected with his corruption and darkness, and it slowly consumed her as he died. In an act of sacrifice Lucifer drew the infection out of her and took it upon himself, becoming corrupted. The small part of him that survived uncorrupted became Azazel.
Despite his efforts Gaia still succumbed to her wounds, her place of rest becoming the grounds which Yggdrasil, the tree of life, sprouted from. Inversely, Azathoth’s place of rest became the icy center of Tartarus, a prison for the most powerful and dangerous of beings.
With Lucifer corrupted and Hell leaderless, Lucifer took the throne of Hell while Vehuiah took over as leader of the heavens.
The original gods that Gaia created had been killed in the final years of the war, and what remained of their powers returned to the Celestial Dragon. Mourning the loss of their first creations, the dragon reused the power to create new gods, some of which are still around to this day.
