MACKENZIE SCHUBERT - SALMON, RUN!
APRIL 2016 - 60ish Pages, 1 Color interiors.
Here is a little preview of what Mackenzie Schubert is working on for us. Built as far up the river as anyone would dare, on the ruins of an ancient dam, is a village. Mirabelle and her brother Alan live on its streets and survive off scraps from the annual salmon run. For years they’d feast on heads and tails, but now the runs have turned wrong—the migrating salmon tainted with magic. Swimming upstream, they whisper through the water, and steal away those villagers too hungry to resist their call. When Alan is kidnapped by the salmon, Mirabelle must risk losing herself as she journeys upstream in order to save him. Along her way she’ll meet knights whose code of conduct is based on paperback romance novels, a walking cabinet of curiosities, and a fox stuck in a plaid shirt. Still, there are worse things up stream, things that make talking salmon seem quaint in comparison.
We also just wanted to share some other work that he has been doing because. Mackenzie is … probably one of the best and most next level concept artists living right now and we are blown off our seats every single time we get to see new work from him.
