1. Rocky Beginnings, Featherlight Feelings

ALRIGHT!! PART ONE OF THE GARGOYLE AU (I really need to find a proper title for this comic series…) IS FINISHED 💥💥 I'll admit, again, this was a bit of a scary start! My no.1 goal is to just keep improving and creating bigger things and hopefully making this silly idea a whole series will help! I may be experimenting with it quite a bit sooooo I guess we're going to see how it goes ✨

(Also ignore the fact that I forgot the "t" in "against" 🥲 noticed it way too late)

I'd also like to give credits to my friend Val (@nobredoesart on IG and Tumblr) for making this dialogue A LOT more refined than it originally was! Check her stuff out she's super cool hehe :> 🫶

Here's the illustration I made based on one of the best fanfics I've ever read in my entire life (The Past Tense Of Know)🙏 Made this while co-hosting a live on tiktok with the one and only @bibinella 🩷🫶 and I gotta say it was super duper fun and awesome! (Even if we kinda died after 7 hours of streaming lol, totally worth it!)

Now, the one phrase that made me want to read TPTOK was "I was wish you would kiss me sober", I knew by then I was definitely in for a ride but OH DEAR ME. I WAS NOT PREPARED. I KNEW AND I WAS STILL NOT PREPARED FOR EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. Needless to say this is my no.1 best read

Any sluggishness vanished from her in an instant, her eyes wide open as she scrutinized the abyss. It yawned, deep and endless, and within it was Wednesday, the sinking relics of a life she wouldn't get to live and a thing.

A creature. So vast it would've made her brig look like a child's toy, the languid form disappearing into the far-off waters of the deep. Every single inch of it seemed to gleam with hues so fervent they threatened to make Wednesday hurl, while all the same beckoning her closer. So mesmerizing were those scales that dwarfed her torso still that only an embarrassing time later did Wednesday realize that to see color, she needed light. Light which the iridescent creature was emitting from gashes along her thin skin. It twisted and coiled predatorily around the debris of the Anchor, rows of fins flaring in a rhythm that mocked a heartbeat but couldn't nail the perfections. Thump, thump, thump, they seemed to pulse, the intensity meeting Wednesday like a physical force.

It had a slight snout, rows of sharpened teeth peeking from behind fleshy holes where a jaw would be. It had something canine to it, but the blooming forest of fins and what looked like baleen plates protruding from the sides made it hard to compare.

The weirdest part of it was the almost humanoid traits. The stomach of the leviathan contracted and curved akin to a human's, and there was something dangerously sloped about the chest, covered by the endlessly streaming frills of gold, feverish pink and noctiluca blue. What could only be described as split open arms, bound together by sinew and viscosity trailed behind, sinking out of sight into shadow, aside from the glowing undulating streamer.

Streamers and frills and iridescent scales were not the main source of its bioluminescence however.

Eyes, as big as Wednesday, brilliant like the sun. Unblinking, staring into her soul.

They looked curious. They looked ever so dangerous too.

They looked at Wednesday, and Wednesday looked back.
