Art & Artficial Intelligence Use
Everyone has a set of experiences which are like their personal DNA and that ”personal experience DNA” PED is unique – it enables them to create something based on their experiences which no one else has had, and therefore would not be able to create exactly.
Ideally, the piece of art, music, poetry, which they create is something which “speaks to“ or shares her/his emotions with at least a few other people. Those artists who have a gift or ability to touch a large number of people are lucky/gifted: Beatles, Taylor Swift, Lucian, Freud, Bach, Damian Hirst, etc.
AI can draw on a lot of information and summarize it, precis it or draw conclusions. The output from AI will always be based on the mass of input available and if two people put the same prompts – they will get the same results. It will not be able to draw on my unique experiences unless I have shared my complete life history on the internet.
Let's think about how artists collaborate, work alone or work to be appreciated - by contemporaries or by future generations. Did cave artists work completely on their own just as an expression of their feelings, did they do it to express to other people or for recognition? We do not know.
There is a more topical example. Eric Tucker an artist recently discovered in England did not endeavor to gain acknowledgment or reward for his work, although it would’ve been deserved. In fact, he did approach some art galleries, but evidently the experience was rather unfulfilling. However, it did not discourage him from continuing to paint and express the emotion of what he felt and saw around him. This is one of the most wonderful aspects of art.
