it’s insane to think that sieun will always know suho longer than suho has known him. suho lost two years of his life but he’s not the one behind, it’s sieun who’s stuck two years in future. he took the grief into his body and let it create another ahn suho— in his teeth, in his head pillowed on his arms, in his feet on the pavement, in the tissue of his thigh. a little ahn suho trapped behind his ribs beating so hard it sounds like it’s coming from the floor boards. and the call comes eventually when sieun’s sitting in the future with 1000 versions of the wrong ahn suho and then he’s running back to the right one and it feels like going through a wind tunnel, tumbling back through time to find out where the red string got knotted in the first place.

and then sieun is standing in front of him but the distance they have on the green lawn is still two years big because you can’t travel back from the future, no matter how much you want to. so sieun is two years older and suho is perfect, long haired and still in the past. but there’s something pulled taught between them besides time, it’s some red rope pulling on either side. and they have to learn to live like orpheus and eurydice, like climbers on el capitan in yosemite national park, like the canary and the coal miners.

they have to learn how to live in a space that isn’t the past and isn’t the future and isn’t quite the present but it doesn’t matter anymore. they’re still tied together, infinitely tangled in string, in time, in a thing called love that stains permanently and leaves a mark like proof sieun was there, proof suho came back, proof that nothing bigger than them has ever existed

Ahhh my lovely, lovely boys… I love how Sheun is always right on the edge of a smile with Suho, but he holds it back - until the hospital bed scene (THE CUTE ONE WITH THE FOOD NOT THE TRAUMATIC ONE, JEEZ) - which, let’s be honest, is basically a love confession (from both boys). So yeah.
