People who keeps saying that Doc is toxic, or worse, abusive towards Wynonna needs to stop. Those are pretty strong words, and in no way they relate to the way Doc has treated Wynonna. He fucked up, sure. He made mistakes, hell yeah! But none of his choices were meant to hurt Wynonna.Â
He slept with his wife, but Wynonna and Doc were not exclusive. She was hurt, sure, but the moment he tried to talk she run away and went to sleep with Charlie.
He then was hurting and made the bad choice to become a vampire, but never for a second his thoughts were about hurting Wynonna. He did it just as much for himself, as he did it to be able to protect Wynonna, Alice and the whole team. And he only showed his vampire face to her because she kept hitting him. After she banished him, he never once complained or imposed himself. Actually he was still be there by the homestead in case she needed him.Â
And in the last 3 episodes he was under the effect of Charlie/Julian’s blood. And still when he could have hurt Waverly, he pushed her away in order not to bite her.
So while he is not perfect, and sure they have hurt each other, in no way this behavior screams abuse, so stop using these terms.
For a fandom that screams about inclusion and understanding is pretty annoying the way Doc is treated. EA hasn’t written him to be considered the monster that most people make him out to be. She is writing about a complex character that is not entirely good or bad. But guess what, none of them are. But while all of the other characters are justified, he never is. People don’t even try to see his point of view. And even when he does something right, people still find a reason to complain and hate him for no reason.Â
I understand not liking him, and not liking Wyndoc, it’s fine. To each is own. Just don’t go throw around heavy words, unless is really necessary. Maybe is just me but certain words should be used more carefully
