Proceeding down an Asian river in a gunboat, Sheen passes another boat headed in the opposite direction. And we join Sheen on the mission, which is constructed out of countless jokes based on the "Rambo" movies and other commando epics. Why is his participation essential? "You are the best of what we have left!" In the unnamed Arab country, we see a Saddam Hussein look-alike living a life of blissful domesticity, interrupted by moments of mayhem and torture. The story is "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." Sheen, named Topper Harley in the movie, is needed to rescue Americans who were sent in to rescue other Americans who were sent in to rescue other Americans. He is tracked down there by his old commanding officer, played by Richard Crenna in a repeat of his own role in "Rambo III." Sheen wants to stay where he is, until Crenna tells him a story that makes him realize he is needed for a dangerous mission in the Middle East. The Sheen character, patterned on the Stallone original, is a pumped-up man of few words, who at the beginning of the film has left his life of action and violence to live a life of contemplation with monks in a remote Eastern land. The movie is directed by Jim Abrahams, who was one of the perpetrators of " Airplane!" (1980), the satirical parody that spawned this and many other films, including " Top Secret!" " The Naked Gun" and the original "Hot Shots!" The current film takes "Rambo III" as its starting place, with lots of loving little touches. The other principal female character in the movie, played by Brenda Bakke, is named Michelle Rodham Hudleston. The Golina character is named Ramada Rodham Hayman.

As for powergaming, there are some definite possibilities of making a Champion of Torm to be one of the best melee machines. Often these can make strong cases against sticking with the same basic class from levels 1 to 20. But by nature CoT are going to be multi-classed and there a few good builds that capitalize on those benefits when making comparisons. When considering a character to primarily be a champion of Torm, one often ends up comparing them to paladins. However any multi- class character needing some extra punch in the melee department can certainly benefit, much like many characters taking tertiary levels in fighter to boost their melee abilities. Their special abilities are geared for dealing out more punishment and increasing survivability. One doesn't obviously equate the CoT as providing a balanced build for the versatility of a solo, do everything adventurer. Let's face it the Champion of Torm just leaves you with the impression of a holy warrior running around in plate armor hacking away at evil while empowered with divine might laying waste to the hordes of evil. The guide also assumes that a player reading it is planning primarily a melee based character. A specific section discusses epic levels and such. It was mostly focused on the character development starting from 1st level going through to about 20th or a little beyond, on the assumption a player will be using the character for any of the NWN campaigns or community designed modules. Just before you come to Taum Sauk Falls, Taum Sauk Creek branches. The trail heads up and around the falls and on to the summit of Taum Sauk Mountain and the Taum Sauk Mountain trailhead. Once beyond Devil's Tollgate, the trail continues upstream to the base of Mina Sauk Falls. After crossing to the south side of the creek, the trail turns east upstream and eventually comes to a nice feature called the Devil's Tollgate through which the trail passes. If you continue east along the Ozark Trail from Proffit Mountain you will eventually drop down to Taum Sauk Creek. This requires decent route finding skills, not only to find Wildcat Mountain, but to find your way back to the Ozark Trail or cross country along a broad saddle to Taum Sauk Mountain itself. The views from up here are quite impressive as part of the summit is covered with rocky glades and thin tree cover.Ī more strenous bushwack is possible east from the east slopes of Proffit Mountain to the summit of Wildcat Mountain (over 1,760' but considered part of Taum Sauk Mountain). A short side trip will bring you to the broad summit of Proffit Mountain at 1,720' near a large powerline (yuck!). As shown in the attached topo map, the trail then follows along the southern slopes of Proffit Mountain for several miles. The route then begins to switchback up to the top of the lesser southwest summit of Proffit Mountain at 1,656'. With a few short off-trail side trips, this route actually allows you to summit two additional 1,700 foot mountains between Johnson Shut-Ins State Park and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park.įrom the trailhead the trail initially crosses the East Fork of the Black River and heads north before heading east along a smaller drainage. This route should not be attempted without first visiting the Ozark Trail Council web site and reviewing the Taum Sauk Section. A very good trail map as well of tons of other useful information is available from the Ozark Trail Council. They can also direct you to the Ozark Trail trailhead to access Taum Sauk Mountain. The best time to do this route is in the spring or fall with the end of October providing some of the best fall colors in the country.Ĭall ahead or check in at park headquarters to assure you park in an overnight spot as this route requires a long 12-13 mile hike or overnight backpack with a car shuttle. The park restricts capacity to prevent overcrowding as the Shut-Ins (rocky section of river with pools and cascades that make great swimming holes) are popular with swimmers. Head west on SH N for over ten miles to the well signed park entrance on the left.Īrrive early on hot summer weekends to avoid having to wait to enter the park. To reach the park travel north on SH 21 from Arcadia or south from Potosi. This route follows the Ozark Trail and starts at the Johnson Shut-Ins State Park trailhead. I thought I would add this route as a challenging alternative to those who would rather not take the easy route to the summit of Taum Sauk Mountain.
