We have informational booklets
Just realised that I can accurately calculate the probability of two Vulcans going into Pon Farr in a Five year mission using my limited knowledge in Statgraphics and statistics
I can even make a tiny graph about it
How many do you think the average starship has? To make the Poisson distribution.
The probability for 1 to go Amok is 0,172992 considering a Poisson distribution with a media of 7 years and the variable inferior to 5
Using then a binomial distribution with that percentage of failing, if there are 3 vulcans, the chances are of the 7%. This number increasing the more there are. With 6 increasing to the 20%. And the probability of more than 2 is also bigger
All of this means that it’s not a good idea to have 5 years missions. It’s not logical. No wonder there weren’t many Vulcans in Starfleet. They’re supposed to keep a façade
There are probably a lot of Vulcans in Starfleet but they prefer to do ground control or stick to shorter missions, the series is just biased towards The Flagship™ so we don't necessarily see them.
But I love the idea that Starfleet is like "Why don't more Vulcans sign up for deep-space assignments?" and the nearest ambassador is like "That Is An Extremely Personal Question"
"It happened to Spock when it wasn't supposed to. It happened to T'Pol when it wasn't supposed to. It happened to Vorik when it wasn't supposed to. It happened to B'Elanna, and she wasn't even Vulcan! It happened to Tuvok, twice–"
"What happened to them, ambassador?"
"..."
The probability seems to increase when encounter with plot reasons. Murphy’s law for mating cycles
T'Murp'h's Law: Anything that Pon happen, will. But only when you are Farr away, for maximum drama.
Important info for @ponfarractionresponseteam
This is why we aim to have trained volunteers on every starship 🖖
Pon Farr Action Response Team is a federation-wide volunteer network devoted to assisting with pon farr related emergencies. We have pamphlets.
(Also, out of universe, we GENUINELY put in the paperwork to become a safe sex nonprofit! We have the budget of a ham sandwich, but check us out, maybe we can distribute safe sex supplies at your local event! 😜

Tomorrow is National Condom Day with PFART day!!!
We’ll be live on the book of faces! Come check it out!!

By Pon Farr Action Response Team
We are an officially licensed nonprofit but we have the approximate budget of a ham sandwich and need YOUR help to buy dental dams and these awesome little finger condoms!!
Do YOU want to be prepared for a Pon Farr Emergency ™?
Each kit contains:
-One condom
-One dental dam
-Three individually wrapped finger condoms
-One meditation candle (electric)
-One helpful informational pamphlet
-One tube of Vulcan Love Salve lube
-Two wet wipes
-One fingernail clipper
-Two thank you mints
(Yes they’re real, and they help support our free kits!)
Want to be even MORE prepared than the smaller kits we give away? This kit comes with one condom, one dental dam, three individually wrapped
We’re having a raffle to fund our PFART preparedness kits, and we have all kinds of fabulous prizes! This isn’t even all of them yet!
Avarianna Art, who closed shop last year, donated their remaining inventory (last chance on these designs!), as well as several other Star Trek themed prizes.
Scott Ruben, author of “Naming your little geek”, is donating a copy of his book!
And that’s just what I’ve gotten pics of so far!
Saw this booth giving out condoms at Pride and felt like tumblr really needed to see this 💯 work
I follow them on Facebook and they're so fantastic! 100% recommended supporting them and their Vulcan Tarot project as well
Oh thanks @thehighpriestessofcuddles ! That’s good to know! 💕
Thank you so much! I’m not on tumblr much these days, but someone was kind enough to show us this post!
We’re really hoping to make this more of a thing. You can chip in at ponfarractionresponseteam.com if you’re so inclined, AND you can volunteer to represent PFART at your own local events!!
Wow, thanks for the info and for hopping back onto this wacky site! (And you should know that when I saw the booth, I stopped on the sidewalk to laugh for a solid minute. 😁)
We are now properly on tumblr!
Do you want to help us out in our mission? Do you want to be a certified PFART volunteer? Do you want a chance to win cool prizes?
We’re actually going to have a fundraiser! And a raffle! And if you get your raffle tickets early, we’ll send you a wallet card!
There’s also already over 30 cool prizes, so if this event fizzles you’ll have GREAT odds in the raffle!!!

Greetings, beings of Tumblr. We are the Pon Farr Action Response Team, a group of people dedicated to assisting Vulcans in their time of need, mostly with free condoms.
…we’re actually a genuine registered nonprofit. The free condoms are real. We have the approximate budget of a ham sandwich, but still. Check us out!
