Marriage wonāt make a person grow up. Kids wonāt make a person grow up. Time doesnāt make a person grow up. It has to just click that itās time to be mature. Itās time to grow up. It has to be a consistent day to day choice to be an adult.

Jolene (33 R.P.M) - click for .mp3
Unsure where this came from, if not the palsied hands of the good Lord himself.
Simple premise: Dolly Partonās āJoleneā slipped from 45 to 33 rpm. Nothing more; no studio trickery, no trip hop drum breaks. The guitar lopes back in and around itself. The bass becomes elastic, hot rubber. The violin stabs become sustained cello lines. The backing choirās split harmony rattles around, slinking ghostly into the corner. Ā And most importantly, Partonās once-frantic vocal is transformed from bubblegum country scrawl into something approximating field holler reverence.Ā
An already perfect song made transcendental..
Well, this changes everything.
i come back to this all the time.
things you can do at any stage in life:
love yourself
have a fresh start
go back to school
recover
make new friends
fall in love
go to therapy
learn a skill
discover your passion
repair relationships
change the world
find a new hobby
be happy
it isnāt too late for you. youāll be okay. thereās no time limit on happiness.
ā Trista Mateer ,āI Still Forget Weāre Not Even Friendsā
over coffee with my mom this morning: āsometimes we hesitate to invite people into our life because we feel like our space isnāt good enough yet. things are a little messy, or our place settings donāt match, or our situation isnāt quite what we want it to be. donāt let that stop you. invite people in anyway.ā
