✧.* Babysitting with Sylus ✧.*
You agreed to watch your friend’s daughter for the day since they planned to have a romantic anniversary night with their significant other.
In the afternoon, they dropped off their precious girl, complete in a poofy, sparkly, princess dress. She was shy at first, but quickly warmed up to you once you agreed to play dolls with her. For the past three hours, she’s been glued to your side still playing with as much fervor as when she started. And while it was cute and fun at first, your battery was very much drained after the third hour.
As your hand starts to cramp from holding her dolls for too long, a sudden knock sounds from the door, followed by the click of the door unlocking. Sylus is home.
“Oh, you must be good with kids, kitten.” Sylus hums with his usual smirk, finding it amusing how close the small girl clung to your side. “I almost forgot about our little guest,” his footsteps slow and approaching.
But once Sylus’ towering frame was fully visible, the girl hurriedly ducks down, attempting to hide beside you.
“Maybe a little too good.” You sigh with a half laugh, Sylus immediately picking up on your exhaustion.
“You know I could have had the twins look after her, or at least, hire a babysitter.”
You give Sylus a soft, knowing look. “I know, I know, but I did agree to look after her, so I am responsible for her. Plus, they’ve helped me out a lot, so it’s only fair.”
He chuckles sweetly. “I figured.”
Sylus gently sits on the couch beside you, not yet engaging with the girl to your opposite side. He pretends not to notice her.
His careful approach reminded you of that one time he accidentally scared a girl away by handing her a balloon. Although he tried to cover it up with a laugh, you heard the smallest sliver of hurt in his voice.
And any kind of hurt Sylus feels, hurts you.
With a smooth gesture, you place the dolls down on the coffee table and turn to the girl, asking in an almost whispering voice, “Why are you hiding, hm?”
She sneakily climbs up your arm, and leans forward, cupping her hands to whisper into your ear, “H-He’s a little s-scary… like a b-big scary dragon…”
The girl looks at you with big, unsure eyes, placing her tiny hands on your shoulder to carefully peer at the large man.
You slowly back up, allowing the girl to take in more of the so-called scary dragon “Well, princess…” you say with a prim and proper voice, playing into her fantasy, “Personally, I think he’s more of a princely dragon.” You wink at him, grabbing a gold, plastic crown from the table, and placing it on your dragon’s head. “Don’t ya think?”
Sylus shoots his handsome gaze over to you, smiling delicately and tenderly. His eyes not daring to leave yours.
The girl loosens her grip, coming further out from your shadow. She observes Sylus with a tilt of her head. “I-I guess so…” The fear dissipating from her eyes, as she inches closer.
Sylus slides off the couch to land on his knees in front of the young girl. He raises his right hand to his chest, and takes a bow. “Princess.” He rises back up,” It’s a pleasure to meet you. I am the Dragon Prince, Sylus. Do I have the honor of knowing your name?”
“Greetings, Princess Kilan, and welcome to my kingdom,” he smiles. “If you’d like, I can take you for a dragon ride, and show you around.”
“A d-dragon ride…?” she mutters.
“Mhmm. Hop on my back, and I’ll fly you around. Wanna give it a try?”
She hesitantly shuffles closer to him, so he gives her a reassuring smile which makes her smile shyly back. She nods.
Sylus then turns around, granting access to his back. She’s right. He really is big. She’s like a tiny kitten and he a great dane in comparison.
Once she cautiously climbs onto his back, he immediately jumps up, jetting off and wasting no time in circling the kitchen island. Kilan’s face is frozen stiff, seeming unsure of how to process this current situation.
“Sylus, be careful.” You warn.
He winks back at you. “I know sweetheart. I will.” As soon as he finishes his sentence he spins around causing laughter to erupt from Kilan. He laughs along with her. The contrast in Sylus’ deep chuckle, and Kilan’s high-pitched giggle sounds so harmonious to you.
“What you see here is our finest restaurant; The Dark Crow.,” he turns toward the stove,” We serve the most exquisite cuisine and exotic dishes. Our chefs specialize in many different meals. Perhaps our famous dish… chicken nuggets, would be to your liking Princess?
She erupts in giggles once again. “Yes, yes! I want to try chicken nuggets!”
After she eats the chicken nuggets Sylus made from scratch a few days ago, he picks her back up and brings her to the spot that Mephisto usually perches at in his bedroom.
“This is Mephisto, my skillful companion.” Mephie caws at the compliment. “He makes my life a lot easier when I go on long expeditions.”
Mephie caws in discontentment.
“Or……you can call him Mephie for short.” Sylus always addresses Mephisto by his full name, Mephie was a nickname you came up with, but this was the first time you’ve heard it from his mouth.
Lastly, Sylus takes her to his display room where he displays all his precious gems and jewels, and the many keepsakes that remind him of the experiences he’s had with you. Kilan’s eyes light up. It’s like a trove of treasure in her eyes.
“I found it in a deep cave, hidden behind a waterfall.”
“Wowwww. Then, where did you find this one?” she points to a polished, red ruby neatly placed in the middle of his tall display case.
“That’s a secret.” he says walking to the guest bedroom with you following closely behind. “Maybe I’ll tell you one day, but it’s starting to get late. Every princess needs her beauty sleep,” Sylus said not only addressing Kilan, but also you.
“Okay…” she says with a small whine, as he gently tosses her onto the bed.
“Um… Can you be my prince and… I be your princess?”
He doesn’t laugh, but exhales out his nose in amusement as the both of you sit to her side. “I’m sorry but… I already have a princess.”
“Oh…Who’s your princess?” she asks.
Sylus tenderly takes your hand, rubbing soft circles with his thumb. His eyes slowly grace over your hands before meeting your eyes.
“This is my princess. My sweet, caring, beautiful princess.”
Kilan watches in awe and curiosity.
“Would you like to become my queen, princess?”
You pause for a second, shy from the young audience member, but still warm from the moment.
You nod, “Yes, anything for you my king.”
The corner of Sylus’ lips lift softly, as he raises your hand and leaves a tender kiss on your knuckles.
Kilan hops onto her knees in excitement. “We should do a wedding tomorrow for the dragon prince and princess! Oh! And go to the restwant to eat! Do you want to join us on for an adventure tomorrow too, miss Queen?”
You soften your gaze looking at Sylus and Kilan, “Of course. I’d love to do all those things.”
