Hello Flans! My 9-year-old has a request, which I will transcribe verbatim.

“ Hi Flans, my name is Daniel Junior and I love They Might Be Giants. You’re my favorite band. I am in the instant fan club and have all the stuff from it and I also am going to both LA shows. Could you please play ‘Can’t Keep Johnny Down’ at one of those shows? it is my absolute favorite song. I love it so much. Every every every day since I found that song, I’ve listened to it. Thank you so much”

Attached is a social media post I posted last year in his homemade can’t keep Johnny down shirt. His “confidence shirt” he calls it.

My son drew the cover of his favorite @tmbgareok album ‘Join Us’. That’s a vinyl record in the ‘trunk’ he says. Haven’t told him exactly what goes in the trunk.

This reminds me of being in sixth grade, and my mother getting upset because I was playing something scandalous as “Dirty Diana” by Michael Jackson on my trombone from the equally scandalously titled book, “Top 40 Hits for the Solo Trombone”.

Thank God she intervened. I could’ve grown up to join a trombone gang.
