I hate the argument against gun control that “people are going to obtain guns illegally anyways”. So just because crazy people are able to buy guns elsewhere and commit mass murder, might as well have them do so because the US government allows it? Gun problems won’t disappear even with gun laws but gun control DOES SOMETHING. Look at other developed countries with gun laws, there’s a reason they don’t suffer as much homicides and shootings as the US. It’s because it’s harder for someone to get a gun. I’d much rather have monsters buy their weapons illegally than having our government hand them over. But people don’t even TRY to make a difference, and out of what? Ignorance. Pure ignorance and pride and it’s fucking disgusting.

As a responsible gun owner, I’m strongly in favor of increasing background check criteria and making it more difficult to purchase a fire arm. A slight inconvenience isn’t an infringement of my Second Amendment right. Will it stop all shootings? No, but

if it can save just one life, stop one mass shooting, or prevent just one suicide then it has worked. True most gun owners are law abiding citizens but if that’s the case why care if it takes a few more steps to buy a gun if it can save a life. The Florida rampage marked the 18th school shooting in the first 45 days of 2018. The disturbing tally is more than twice the number of school shootings this time last year. Obviously something needs to change.
