Been listening to this song and it reminds me of mariring ♡(ӦvӦ。)
Ref:
turning point usa is kinda performance art like lets consider that the other founder died from covid in 2020.
>two people start a conservative organization to push covid conspiracies and pro-gun ideals (among other things)
>one dies of covid
>the other dies of gun violence
it’s so on the nose that it’s actually cliché
i hate when something violent happens to a right wing politician and every left leaning pundit and politician gets on their soap box about how "violence isn't the answer" as if the right wing ideology doesn't inherently encourage violence.
"his son just had his first birthday" they're separating families. they're attacking trans people. they're building concentration camps. they send "thoughts and prayers" for school shootings and don't enact real change to prevent others. they have stood by israel, which is bombing nurseries. they stormed the capitol and physically harmed others. and i'm supposed to be sad he got shot at?
"A man has died, even if you didn't like him, have some empathy"
Mmm... how 'bout no
On one hand: the increasing level of political violence in the United States is very concerning, especially considering our gun problem. I do not want to live in a culture where assassinations are frequent, and it’s legit terrifying how much of a powder keg we’re in.
On the other hand: Charlie Kirk reaped what he sowed. It’s impossible to overstate the level of harm this man did. He acted as a propaganda arm for fascists and billionaires, advocated against the rights of women and minorities (he proudly said he would force his 10yo to give birth if she were raped and impregnated), and railed against reforming the very gun culture that killed him.
So yeah. Bye, bitch.
Right now my thoughts are with the family of Melissa Hortman, a democrat from Minnesota who was assassinated along with her husband and her dog in the dead of night. Senator Mike Lee (from Utah) made a joke about it. There was no moment of silence, no national response. MAGA extremism kills people.
Last thing for today. There is no ‘tipping point’ into widespread violence in the US. The US already has it.
You cannot be made to mourn the death of somebody who would have celebrated yours.
Look after yourselves online. Turn off autoplay, and try to switch off if possible.
Do not get sucked into liberal doomerism online. Anything along the lines of “Oh now Trump can do whatever he likes,” is nonsense - he was already doing whatever he likes.
Have a good evening.

quick reminder that you're actually not obliged to feel any empathy for someone who would have described your death as 'necessary' if the exact same thing had happened to you
Thoughts and prayers really do work! I've prayed for times like these 😊
I like watching the English dub of Anne Shirley since it has that particular 1880s speak, but man, I just don't like Gilbert's voice.
